Mmmm. The eternal quest to be able to have one sweet baked goods both in the cupboard and your own stomach...
Right. I am with Pistonpopper. Fox body with a V8 and manual- you wont get more than about 23-25 from your drive but they are great fun, reliable, very easy to work on and much smaller than you think. Get a notchback if you can as they are the better chassis. Also, when you decide that eating the cake is a more preferable option LS+Turbo+ Sloppy Mechanics shopping list = 10second car.
I wish I had not sold any of my cars but one that I keep coming back too is the CTR. Absolutely rubbish on the motorway and if driven properly unlikely to see more than low 20's but what a hoot. Super reliable as well.
A Porsche 924 will fit the bill and, as it is basically a VW transporter with a posh frock, can be made to go quite well.
Or get something diesel and reliable for the commute and spend the money on something for the weekend that makes you smile.
I may or may not have missed the point.....
