Excellent A single socket is generally more expensive than a double one, when you add the cost of the adaptor that’s not a cheap bodge! Will look forward to updates

The (almost) period Pioneer stereo is probably in a wooden box to isolate the negative earth stereo from a positive earth car!
As a long term CZZ fan with 11 MkIIs, 8 MkIIIs and 3 MkIVs under my belt, I can only envy your task. Just remember it's a big car for something from the 60s and the rot can sometimes be measured in acres, rather than sq ft! Having said that, there's something truly addictive about that straight 6 and the column shift which takes you back instantly to a mostly forgotten style of motoring, relaxed, window down, elbow on windowsill and your favourite lady snugged up on the bench seat! Just Cruisin'!!

On a serious note, although household wiring is rated for 240 volts the high current in automotive 12 volt systems have often melted household insulation & started fires.

I used to own a 1962 Zephyr Six when I was in my 20's, so a fair few years ago. I was told it was the ex Earls Court exhibition car as it was registered 288 EXB. It was a green Executive with 4 speed column change. I drove it all the way to the Costa Brava where it was quite a sight. Anyway, look forward to seeing how this progresses.

Not a lot has happened with the Zephyr, as I have been focusing my efforts on getting this out of the workshop... Still, it's nearly ready for an MOT now, so the Zephyr can hopefully go in at the end of the month and work can begin. While the car has been waiting, I have been collecting parts. Got a load of bigger, 15-inch steel wheels for it, including the old ones from my Dad's Thunderbird, which is pretty cool. I also have a new bootlid and new bonnet for it, as the ones on the car are scrap. Oh, and I made a little video about it, too... Chris

I would KILL for one of these, same story, my dad had one, same year and I loved it dearly, I cried when he traded it against a MK4, after 12 years of ownership, LMH495C COME BACK!! On a less emotional note, he'd only had it a couple of years when one of those newfangled Japanese thingys ran into the back outside the local shop, so that was early 70's Zephyr damage? One slightly bent overrider The J was towed away.....

Nice to see a Zephyr being saved. My father had a "4" from nearly new in the late 60s and I've always had fond memories of it as our family car with me sat on the front armrest and 7 of us in it. Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread but here are a few pictures of it from way back then (I'm the little guy lol). Anyway, the reason my father finally moved it on was because he got fed up of repairing the flitches as they rusted really bad there. For yours to have survived is a bit of a miracle, if indeed they have. Keep up the good work, be nice to see another Z Car back on the road.

Amazing looking beast, and even better looking bodges looking at the mot history, I suspect the garage has been passing it unchecked some years, as it has flown through with no advisories

I asked about this car months ago and got the same story, my mate who runs the garage said the same as he told you. Pity I was interested in saving it as well. Hope it gets sorted and back on the road.
