with what can you clean really dirty aluminum

i need to clean an aluminium carburator housing, any remedy , chemical or something that will remove the crud , without damaging the aluminium ?

Soda blasting or vapor blasting

An ultrasonic cleaner brings them up like new. I used engine cleaner when I did mine, though I did it outside since the machine heats up quite a bit.

I don't know if it is appropriate but Finnegan used acetone to clean some 'alluminum' before welding

aqua-blasting is perfect for this sort of job if you can find someone with a machine. won't damage the surface, but will remove 99% of the crud

Vapour blast. Its corroded so will need an abrasive clean rather than ultrasonic.

Alubrite may be another option but I have no personal experience of it.
