What has everyone finished 2018 with car wise? And what’s you plans for this year, sell some cars, buy more or just finish what projects you’ve already got started? My plan is to get my Capri home this year and use it and I also want to look for a mk5 cortina estate to use for family trips to the sea side etc, and because I really want one. Post up your pics Escort, not been used in a couple of years and probably won’t for a couple more Capri, still being restored. Sent it away 5 years ago, it should be back this year though Z4, inherited from my dad, was his pride and joy so don’t want to sell it, needs quite a bit of work, but will get round to it one day M3, Currently sorn, used in the summer months, great car Mazda B2500, my main car, noisy, unrefined, basic, slow, but it’s fun,

I couldn't say that I've 'finished' anything, I mean is a project car ever really finished? What I have achieved in 2018 is getting my turbo P6 on the road, mostly resprayed (needs a little touching up in places) and got the Saab turbo running really well. Also replaced the back body on my 109 and put a small extension in the cab to make it more comfortable on longer journeys. Plans for 2019? The P6 needs a new uprated clutch and a bigger turbo along with a little tidying up of the paint The 109 has lots of new parts waiting to be fitted, new softer engine mounts, stronger gearbox, some welding needs doing to the footwells and bulkhead and upgrading the front axle before I smash that to pieces My current project is getting my old V8 Landy back on the road. Just got the 3.9 efi to run, now working on plumbing it in and re-wiring the front end and a few more transmission upgrades, and maybe fit an external roll cage over the front? There's the SD1, which I'm still stuck on decided whether or not to continue fitting the turbo to the original 3.5, or build a bigger 3.9/4.0/4.6 with the turbo and then squeezing a full size intercooler in the front. There's also the back axle upgrade, LSD and disc brakes, be it upgrading the original axle or fitting my Salisbury 4HA axle? I also have lots of new bodypanels that need fitting and that'll be a full body stripdown.... And lastly I've got the 'other' P6, now parked up in the corner of the garden with the weeds reclaiming it. I've started fitting a Salisbury 4HA live axle to it and Mercedes OM605, though I'm thinking about sourcing a lightweight alloy engine with big capacity, tuning it up and seeing how fast I can get it going down the 1/4 mile on the cheap?

My Mercedes W115 full resto was put on hold in 2018 as I went and bought a house. I restarted the project a few weeks ago, recommencing the long slog of metalwork that needs to be done. Shell is getting blasted this month if I can organise it.
My Nissan Patrol is currently without a fuel tank as I discovered a leak. That's been removed and is waiting to be welded.
My daily BMW e39 has an increasing collection of dashboard warning lights on, so they need addressing at some point too

I got my Mk2 Golf 16v back on the road but it’s not being used so I think it’ll put it on the market soon. I also fancy selling my daily Honda FR-V, which hasn’t put a foot wrong, but I miss my old Lexus LS400 so will probably go back to one of them (or a LS430). I do miss a bit of wafting

Build myself an exhaust for the Midas, get the seats in and start building up the doors. I need to build a dashboard, make some carpets from scratch and get everything wired up properly. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll have replaced the daily VW Bora with an R170 Mercedes SLK...

Finally parted company with the Saab as I just can't justify 4 cars anymore so unfortunately 2018 saw me say goodbye to it. But that gives me more time to fettle my other convertible And then there's the Aggro which needs the manifold removing and the crack welding up and the holes in the front wings sorting, roll on Spring!! 😆

Well I leave 2018 with my MGB GT in pieces (still), my BMW E34 off the road, and trying to tolerate a Toyota Aygo as a daily driver.. For 2019, The MG is probably going to largely remain like this but I do really want to get something done on it, I feel bad when I see it in its state (and when I see the levels of progress on other builds on here!) The BMW will be getting coilovers as part of a suspension refresh, rust repairs, a 525i driveline swap, Air Con retrofitted, and a stroker 3.0 engine fitted, and I want it done by Spring so I can take it to the Nurburgring... Aygo will be getting sold as I can't live with the small eco car life (no matter how much money its helping me save to spend on the actual project cars ) So there will be a hunt for a new daily..

Finished the year in a working corrado. I’ve only ever pulled one apart for the engine and other sundries. I love it, but I have a disease which doesn’t allow me to keep a vehicle for more than 6-8 months. So it’s getting an mot next week and will be up for sale. Need something less sensible.

I'd like to chop the TTiD Saab in for a V6 aero estate being as we don't use it enough to warrant a diesel any more. I'd also like to invest in a nice usable RWD semi retro to use for myself.

2018 - finally got the mk2 to our new house 2.5 years after putting in storage lol). Swapped over to the bbs rims and managed to get it running. Washed it and pressure washed under the back end. That was it lol.
2019 - Probably sell the Volvo and use the golf plus as Mrs is setting up dog walking so she will finally have her own car/van. As currently we just use whatever car is last on the drive. Depending on how it's mot goes depends if I do anything daft with it or not.
Hopefully get the mk2 on standard management, and if money allows get it in to the bodyshop to get the little bit of rust sorted. If I can manage that it won't be far off a mot.
If it goes to a bodyshop I'm going to take the flat concrete roof off the storage bit of my garage and put a timber roof on with side store so the 6x4 extension can become a workshop.

2018 saw my work situation drastically change, leaving with me with a lot less spare time than before. As such towards the end of the year I sold off a few of my projects, to give me a more realistic chance of actually getting the remaining ones back on the road. Of those my main aim is to get the '67 Beetle I bought over the summer up and running. It's been off the road since early 1989, so I figure after thirty years away it deserves a little tlc. Bodywork will pretty much remain the same for now (long term plans include a full resto), priorities going to mechanics and suspension. 48380353_359858814565692_3557094757815549952_n by Scott Simons, on Flickr

less time on fb and eBay and more time building my cars , finishing them, and driving them! new years day was spent on my mk1, got my escort coming back from a very expensive complete re wire and ecu change, then to move it on to paint. get my mk1 up and running and sell my mk1 sadly, and hopefully buy my first house (preferably with a garage) .
Hope everyone makes the most of it all, the major thing I learnt last year which probably hindered last year car wise for me, was grab life by the horns. Tomorrow is not guaranteed!

This time last year I'd just finished ironing out the teething problems on the 240 and then just hit the shows Ideally I needed to sell it to continue with my 940 but I like it to much to get rid of it so il just have to find the money elsewhere But that will definitely slow progress down on the 940 So il be doing bits and bobs on this as and when I can In case you was wondering the format will be the same as the 240 but more track focused and with over twice the performance I've been working on this thing off and on over the last 3 years It will be very trick once I've finished it I've generally been giving myself headaches by changing things I don't need to just because I think I can do a better job at building a VW bus than VW did in the first place (I'm trying to reinvent the wheel) Again it will be based on the same principle as my 240 "classic looks with a more refined modern use ability" Money is the only thing holding me back (as always) so probably won't be finished this year but we can try I have my jag/E34/E36 as well but they definitely won't be 2019 jobs so it's all about the above I'm sure I just be copying and pasting this same post next year 😥

This... Need to get the custom springs made for it to put it a bit closer to terra firma. Then get the wheels banded. Those are the main two bits. I do plan to capitalise on the fact it's carb by fitting twin 40s, but I don't know if that'll be this year. Then there's this... It needs a lot. Front suspension needs sorting, braided brake lines need to be fitted, needs a new clutch, needs loads of bodywork bits, wheels need to be refurbished, front-mount intercooler needs to be fitted... the list goes on. I do want it on the road this year though. Chris

Carry on work with the Fug, our plan is to sort some of the bodywork out and change the looks a bit before the Weekender (need to confirm but don’t think Tom is allowed to go on the track at Goodwood as he’s too young) Then fit the 2l engine for the Gathering and hopefully get up the hill again this year.... but more excitingly The plan for the Corsa is to get Ella through her driving test and hand it over to her.... then start thinking about something for me to replace it. But that may not happen in 2019

A bit more work on the Manta - get new windscreen rubber and repair the heated windscreen, fit nosecone properly, maybe fit the roll cage, etc. Alternatively having owned various Mantas for over 30 years, I might get something with a mid or rear engine as I've never owned one before.
