Brilliant. The attention to detail and fit and finish is great. The way that the body work fits so closely around the exposed parts of the chassis and exhaust etc is a real sign of quality to me. A lot of similar builds don't have that.
Just one question, why is the engine at an angle off the centre?

Cool. I have no idea why the engine is like that, but I like the fact that it is.
It would be interesting to see the rest of the drive train.

I think the engine must be like that to give the driver somewhere to put his feet. The discussion of it of FB said the diff was massively offset to the left, to allow the prop to be next to the driver to sit them as low as possible. The engine angle brought it ands its weight back to the centre, while also making a handy space for the super charger.

Good to see Mr Bognor back with the goodness, that is such a well finnished car, as said everything screams quality.

The engine placement reminds me of what they do in slotcars, and have done for some years.



After having a read up its done for better weight distribution. It also helps with gear mesh and ratios and places the magnet above the rails for increased traction. Not applicable here though obviously.

It was relatively common in racing circles to have angled engines so that the driveline could go one side of the driver, meaning he could sit lower. There was even an Alfa (I think) with the diff immediately behind the engine leading to two angled prop shafts back to either end of the axle, bevel gear driving the hubs. The Railton/Cobb LSR car had two engines, both sitting at an angle each driving the axle at the other end of the car though that was purely for driveline packaging since Cobb sat right up front.
