So with the firenza gone last year I’ve finally found my next project car. Much different to what I was originally looking for but it’s cool as. Going to be a new learning curve for me but I think I’ve made the right choice. She’s a 1967 2.5 auto needing a bit of tlc and live. Can not wait to get stuck into it and get it on the road. I’ve bought it as a gift to myself and for my late father who passed away recently who kept on at me to purchase it. So let the fun begin. Counting down the days till I get it.

Looks good.
I think one of these with a early 90’s supercharged xjr straight 6 motor would be epic.

Hopefully being picked up for me on Thursday morning. Excited about it turning up and can’t wait to get it sorted out. Been checking loads of mods to do but may leave it standard with a few little personal touches.

Yeah it’s been collected and at a mates unit near Bristol now but he tells me it’s a going to be a big project, might have bitten more of than I can chew but until I see it I don’t know. The worst bit is the inside as it’s in bits at the moment as the previous owner was going to build a modern dash into it. I’ll get to see it this weekend hopefully but until then I’m a bit worried I’ve made a boo boo lol

The more work it needs, the more you can make it your own. I hope its still do-able, would make a great project.

An awesome project! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for it!
And as said above, the more work it needs just means you can put your own touch on it!

Keeping it standard but add a few little personal touches to it. It’s a great looking car any way and I don’t want to ruin it with too many mods. Might lower it depending on how easy they are to lower.

So actually laid eyes on it today after buying it over the internet and I’m pleased with first impressions. Interior is a mess but all there and a few little blisters on the rear spats but looks solid underneath and is pretty much complete. Going to be a fun car to start on as soon as I get it home. Can not wait.

Ok picked the car up today and from first impressions it’s sound. Few bits of bodywork to sort but looks solid underneath and the v8 sounds amazing when running and starts so easy. Steering is really heavy but I’ve put that down to tyre pressure being low. Body wise it’s sound apart from the drivers side front wing has a hole in it and a poor repair in the past but I’m not too bothered about it. Worst is the previous owner stripped the dash out so it just needs putting back in as it’s all there ready to put back in. Just fits in my garage aswell which is a bonus as I was worried it wouldn’t fit. More pics to follow when I get back in there.

So I thought all the wood trim was missing but I had it dropped off to me at work today. All in good condition with a few bits needing work. Now begins the task of putting it back in the car, like a jigsaw puzzle. Should make the inside look 100% better. Rear seat base also delivered but has seen better days but definitely usable. Going to strip out the seats and paint the floors and check for any rust that needs attention. Need to adjust the carbs as it is running really rich at the moment and adjust the tick over as it’s running a bit fast on idle. Plans are to have it running properly and road ready for the queens square meet in July.

So started to piece the bits together to rebuild the dash up. Most of it’s there just missing a couple of bolts for the drivers side part. Gave the car a check over and it’s sound where it needs to be. Engine sounds sweet with a little water leak on a pipe which is just a jubilee clip loose and a carb leaking fuel on the top of the chamber. Carbs need weakening as it’s running really rich and just smells of fuel on idle. Simple fix and it’ll be road ready in the next few weeks after an mot test hopefully. Need to address the front wing as it’s got a rust scab who has developed into a hole but again an easy fix. More pics to come as soon as photobucket works properly.

Dash back in and looks 100% better , just the gauges to wire back up and it’s sorted. Door caps next and then on to the leaky hose. Everything is going too easy at the moment but enjoying it feels good to have a project again. Next on the list is the tuning of the carbs so any advice would be good. Found loads of bits of history with the car aswell for classic car rally’s like shows etc. Also a proper workshop manual for it amongst the paperwork. Few bits on the bodywork to sort and i was given a power steering subframe with the car but not sure I’ll fit it.

Russ Carpenter is your man
He rebuilt the Daimler V8 in my TVR back in 2003 and is probably one of the most knowledgable people regarding the Daimler Hemi V8

Ok quick update , dash is back in and gauges working. Engine is sweet and after watching the you tube clip I’ve sorted the carbs out. Next to do Is to remove the front over riders on the front bumper as I really don’t like them and I’ve seen a few without and they look better without them. Already taken the rear ones off and looks better in my opinion. Just need to tidy up the inside now and sort the rear door caps out and the roof ones and clean the carpets as they are filthy from years of dirt and grime. Have found an oil leak but after checking it I’ve found that the sump plug is leaking so ones on order along with a new filter and oil. Making steady progress and will get more pics up when my photo bucket account is unlocked.
