Mate, this is more than 100% awesome. 1 point of attention please.... and please don't take it wrong as I really believe that you are a master at what you do but can you get another photographer?...I like to see so much more than your photo's show.

I think they are also quite a heavy engine. Is a shame that the little ohv engines are not very strong. It would be neat to build up some sort of screamer with one, or add a turbo. But from what I've read they don't have a very strong bottom end. I weighed the Datsun 1200 engine from my imp. It's only 78kg with the flywheel. Pretty light and very tough engines. Tempted by one for an easy swap into my viva. But they actually cost quite a bit here for a good one because they are very popular with the speedway folk... Due to the abuse they can take. No, they're pretty curse word. But some idiots still spend a silly amount of money to build 'hotter' versions. Mine has been a living room ornament for the last 10 years. Still looking for a Blydenstein rocker cover/inlet manifold too.

been buisy today! i gave the car a quick mop/polish over. i started fitting the rear-end up, got the chrome/ brightwork polished up, and am about to order myself a set of pressed number plates. i treated myself to a pair of panel stands last week, so last night i put them to their first jobs; made life so much easier to spray up the bonnet and boot lid on these swivel contraptions. definatly beats dangling panels from wires and laying across trestles!!

This is an uprated 1256 my brother built. Blydenstein 1500 stroker crank, Lotus Twin Cam pistons and Blydenstein alloy rocker cover / inlet manifold. This is the second one of these he built. He sold the first a few years ago to someone in Ireland along with a genuine Blydenstein straight cut / close ratio gearbox This was in a Viva HA.

Core blimey! Yeah as far as the Vaux OHV engine goes that manifold and crank ^ are pretty damn sexy after market bits. I bet you'd love those parts Oli!!!
I've still got the 'hotter' version of the 1159cc engine sitting outside. The one I'd bought for my HB wagon. Its head is scrap but it has the better 1256 cam plus the better twin outlet exhaust manifold. I should really spend a weekend swapping the bits over and fitting it then see what an extra 10 bhp is like :-)

One simple thing you can do is compose your photos more carefully. Avoid taking photos looking towards the bright strip lights. Lower the phone so you only get the car into the shot and hopefully the phone camera sensors wont pick up the bright light and will adjust the exposure for better contrast. It will also slow the 'shutter speed' down so hold the phone steady as you can. Looks like your phone might also have a dirty lens? Because yeah - I too want to see better photos of this beauty

I'd most certainly give a kidney. I made the mistake of toning down my spec sheet when I started because the car was my daily at the time so I passed up on some of the nicer, more lairy items in exchange for a more civilised drive. Wish I'd gone all out now, although the grand plan is still a modern engine swap on carbs if it ever sees the road again.
Very jealous of the Firenza content, would give my other kidney for a coupe. I'm running out of organs.

How about a 1.7 zetec se from a Puma, very light and around 150hp with all the emissions parts removed. there are bell housings to use these with type 9 or people have made adaptors to use mazda RWD boxes.

The 1256 isnt rare as such, just pov spec. Mine was an early 1159, that was rare as they quickly realised how slow they were and starte using the 1256! You can get 4 x 100 wheels repitched to 4 x 101.6, I used www.tttoolsltd.co.uk

Great looking car, very similar colour and style I’m going for. Those wheels suit it down to the ground! Thanks

Hey
These are a great looking shape
I'm from SA
Here they were sold as Chevy not vaux/opel.
Here we had the 2.5 in the 4 door version .
that 2 door shape was the CAN-AM here in SA
As u can read above the can-am was a v8 with a 4 speed manuel trans.
according to 2 twins that owned /own 2 of these. ( I saw a show early 2000's) that interviewed the twins.
they said the cam am was faster than our V8 capri perana.
they said it got the following if i remember correctly
1st gear 80kms/ph 2nd gear 140kms/ph 3rd gear 180kms/ph( or maybe beyond) 4th gear they don't know coz the speedometer only had 180kms/ph on it.
this in itself was legendary for me.
I only saw 1 in my lifetime in the flesh.
love the 2 door shape.
Why not go V8? if not a regular driver.
but if u want a small punchy engine a 2L vauxall 16V turbo engine will be great and keeping to the vauxall brand.
that will be epic.
Good luck with the choice and ill be watching.
cheers
