Bought a European car and wanted to UK register it. Applied to dvla with mot etc from my local garage but because one of the vin digits is russian they said I have to re stamp the vin and mot again. Fine I thought.
Did that and sent pics and details
Now they are saying I need to sva it and Q plate it. I'm not that bothered about the q plate but I have no idea about sva requirements.
How strict are they? Do the modifications including center exit exhaust through the boot, mean I'm in trouble?
Any help really appreciated.
Thank you

If it's standard and over 10 years old then BIVA is NOT required.

According to that letter it already has one?
VIN number is one of theirs by the looks of it, so a kit car of no. Specific origin?

How long has it been in the country already?

If the DVLA decide to issue a Q plate you get a chassis number and VRM issued but you don't get a V5C UNTIL you have it tested. You used to be able to get a Q WITHOUT test when a vehicle was of inderterminate age but obviously not new. They appear to have let them slip ? Maybe they haven't and now just believe to get a Q requires a test ?

OP. You didn't say earlier you had to stamp a number the DVLA had issued you with as that would have set alarm bell sriging with me. What country did you import it from, are they part of the EU and did it come with that countries paperwork.

It's a shame because it's handy money but transportation will almost be price of car.
I only want it to rally I suppose I could sprint or hill climb it if I can't get road legal?
You used to have to either have tax or mot on a rally car. Saying that I'm only wanting to do single venue stage rallies.

Still needs to be road registered and MOT'd for single venue rallies. For non road legal sprints & hills cage would need to be Blue Book spec and you need to get an MSA (sorry, MUK as they are now) Vehicle Passport.
Out of curiosity - what's the car ?

Thx rallyboy I thought I was right on that!
It was a lhd Lada!
Yep just spent about a month's wage on a custom built cage for Chevette then sold the shell and bought another!
Just had cage finished in that. Car should be ready soon.
Problem with lada is I'd have to build it before I can get MOT to try and get V5.
My last chevette had no V5, previous owner said they wanted to inspect the car.
I rang dvla and sent chassis number and got it without inspection?
But I did say on the phone it was being restored so maybe that encouraged them?
