Always loved an Italjet scooter. The Dragster is the one that does it for me but the Formula 125 twin cylinder was always a bit special too. What’s the deal with the Helix? Is it for sale do you know? I missed out on one a couple of years ago and haven’t really come across another since. Always loved an Italjet scooter. Owned one a few years ago and always regretted selling it. Tried to buy it when the guy I sold it to moved it on 3 years later, but it went for double what I'd sold it to him for. That one was nice. Italian import so newer than any ever sold in the UK and low mileage. Green. I also had one of the Chinese clone ones. It was a heap of poor quality carp. But I did get it really cheap, fixed a bunch of the curse word and sold it for a profit when I got the green one. The thing that got me into them was that my Messerschmitt (see my avatar) has the Spacy (Helix's older smaller brother) engine (but the engines are similar. I have 3 Spacy's as well. Well to be fair, I have 1 Spacy and 2 spares bikes which could probably be turned into 1. Long story short (and we'll stop the thread hijack - but I'm sure grizz will forgive me), I don't want to sell either Helix, been hankering for too long, but will certainly consider moving on the Spacy (or a Spacy shaped Ikea kit).

As for the brake - not "pulled apart". You need to apply the front brake or at least one of the brakes on these scooters to get the starter to operate - safety thing so that if you press the starter and have the throttle open you do not - well I'm sure you get the idea. Thanks for the reminder Darkspeed . grizz : Double check, I might have temporarily shorted out the front brake switch, I somehow think I wouldn't have left it that way, so Darkspeed is correct, short out the switch or pull the brake lever!! (Easier to do the switch as the brakes need rebuilding)

Lastly. From little Oaks, grow big trees. Craig’s first bike his dad bought him when he was possibly 10 years old or less, no idea. Hopefully he will be along to correct me. Dinky thing. Yep, I was 10! ....Healthy five o’clock fuzz for a ten year old...😂😂😂

It can't get much more 80s cool than a scooter with a pop up headlight!

ETA - Edited To Add Not sue what bit is over your head so.... Normally closed - it makes the circuit when its cold and opens when its warmed up switching whatever it switches off - so bridging it would have it permanently on. Manual switch - you decide. VOM - Volt Ohm Meter - clean up what is left of the contacts and see if contact open or closed via resistance or belling out feature if it has one. As for the brake - not "pulled apart". Aaahhh, excellent, thank you. TLA’s get me every time. Brake lever still seems to cut drive. As for the brake - not "pulled apart". And a deck to be built too...

Like the more modern Honda models etc. Could just imagine owning one. Hence taking this one from craigrk to create something fun and interesting to me..... once I get it started. Currently work at the day job is keeping me a lot more busy than I would like, and Dicking with Decking forum.retro-rides.org/thread/208777/dicking-decking-failed-rebuilding-deck Which still needs to be completed today, followed by making some new furniture for the deck, including a bench, and a large trestle table to fit the large garden gate Craig got me, means the scooter needs to wait..... a bit.

I had a Honda Express just like that when I was younger! Does it run?
Mine used to take HOURS of mucking about just to get it to run for 15 minutes!

Unfortunately it doesn't run right now, has about 150 miles from new... There's a guy in the local TRF who has a few of them, so I'm hoping he'll help me sort it when it reaches the top of the project pile.

Brother had the 125 dragster many moons ago. Good fun especially with a 172cc top end on it. Rear brake on to start and may have side stand switch too if fitted. The thermo switch is cold start/choke.
