Hi, I am the Bangers & Cash producer, so first of all thanks for the largely positive reaction to the programme - pleased a few of you caught it. The aim was to make it honest and straight, fun, no tricks - a car programme for and about people who like cars. We will be following the mini's progress in a couple of extra episodes later this year. I genuinely don't know how it will pan out. It happens, we film it. Here is the link to the first episode if you didn't catch it. uktvplay.uktv.co.uk/shows/bangers-and-cash... And here is a link to an extended trailer from this weeks show which is on tomorrow night, Thursday at 8pm of Yesterday channel 19. Thanks again for your support.

Enjoyed the first episode so well done on the shows format and there are loads of cool cars in the background as well .
Great news on the follow up episodes of the Mini restoration, interested to find out what they managed to save and the work being done.

The problem with the vast majority of the other shows that target the classic car market is that they are scripted & edited by idiots whom think it makes good viewing - put simply - it doesn't - what you have done is exactly what the market needed 'Tell it how it is' and is a credit to you & your team for doing so - I only know of one other programme that works on the same basis which is the states based 'Chasing Classic Cars' with the dealer 'Wayne Carini' - your format could also possibly work within a restoration workshop - following the progress of the vehicles has they are restored which is what they do with CCC

So appreciate the comments. You have all hit on the ‘authentic’ nature of it. It makes it sound easy if I say ‘it happens, we film it, have fun, edit it and there’s your programme’ but that is basically it! It has morphed as making series one progressed. In the first month of filming I guess we started focused on all the ‘classic classics’ but pretty soon broadened our minds based on what we were seeing. Derek sums it up in one ep. ‘There’s someone for everything” - and he was pushing a Marina with its gearbox in the boot at the time. Sarah later says ...“The cars fetch people together” - how true.
From memory the bond bug market, Jag Mk 2 and a trip to the pub next week....tough life.

You need some more producers creating fake suspense, overblown mistakes, inter-family relationship issues, a 'celebrity' face behaving stupidly etc. Just not playing the game. James

James I would do that of course James - but I just haven't got the time because I've got to be somewhere else to film something else for someone else at the same time as making sure that Derek gets to where he needs to be by the time Paul gets back with the car that Sarah doesn't know about - and now an even bigger problem, it's time for lunch!! Enjoy the next ep!!

Derek's team have a real passion for what they do and seeing the stories behind the sales is great to see , hopefully this will run for a long time. If anyone missed the Jowett / Escort last week it's repeated tonight at 9 PM

Just a quick one to support what everyone else said. No unnecessary drama, just the things that really happened and the real people involved make great tv. Not choosing popular classics will help loads too, some classic mags are extremely boring due to sticking to the popular stuff, its the unusual or unfashionable that is interesting, I want to be learning new things not seeing the same as usual.

Yeah was pretty watchable. I said to the wife the Mini would fetch mega money, and said a new shell would be 10k so I was spot on lol There is still profit in it as they fetch 50k + with the correct documentation and provenance to back it all up like this one had.... Or even a bit more... really....Cant get my head round 60k+ for a mini...

Episode 3 and you really dish the dirt getting well into the Jowett theme - even with some of the Jowett Car Club members and their cars (all very well known to me) - very well done Mr Producer - not just covering the Javelin for sale at the auction but covering the Jowett storey too
