I know there's been some love on here in the past for the old Maestro so here goes.....
Yes, really, a 'Y' registered 2001 Maestro. Just passed a new MOT inspection, with no advisories, so valid until June 2020.
Must be one of the last registered and the mileage is only just over 20,000 miles. The photo of the dashboard shows 32,130 Kilometres but it displays speed in miles per hour.
On the V5 registration document it's shown as a TET ROVER MAESTRO and there is quite a story behind these cars.
Go to Google and search for the Maestro & Montego Owners Club then search for Ledbury Maestro and you'll find the full story.
The venerable A+ 1275cc engine has a five speed gearbox and is fitted with a catalytic converter so unleaded fuel is no problem.
Good ground clearance and a large airy interior make for pleasant motoring on todays congested and poorly maintained roads. Fully comprehensive insurance, on a limited mileage policy, costs me less than £117 pounds per year.
The seats are as you would expect with such low mileage however the roof lining is sagging at the rear (they all do this) but it's a relatively straightforward fix especially on a non-sunroof body such as this example.
Amazingly the dashboard/facia is not cracked which confirms that this car has spent most of its life cosseted in a garage.
The bodywork looks good with minor bubbling appearing on the inner lip of one rear wheel arch but this is still at the catchable stage without any requirement for welding.
The drivers door has a rust scab to the lower trailing corner which again does not appear to penetrate into the door.
It would make a nice easy to maintain classic for weekend shows or an economical runabout for an enthusiast.
The car is in West Lancashire, 10 minutes from J27 of the M6.
