A reluctant sale, but also one that's only going to appeal to a handful of people I imagine anyway.
For sale is my Civic EG, that has made it's best attempt to look like a dry state import.
I bought this 6 months or so ago as it was local, astonishingly solid considering how old Honda's get, and suited being a decent "spare" to swap all the bits over to if I ever binned my current track car.
The plate in the photo's didn't stay with the car, the current Reg No. is L524 LBE. Mileage is at 126000. Worth noting car was in daily use until it ran out of MOT recently.
A very brief rundown as to why this particular Honda chassis has appeal is that it's essentially the same floorpan as a DC2 Integra Type R. This means double wishbone suspension on all four corners, and the easily achievable potential to make it handle and perform just as well as what is often deemed the best handling FWD car of the 20th Century. The complete front subframe/suspension of an Integra will bolt straight on, as will the rear. This coupled with the fact that you can put almost any Honda drivetrain into it thanks to a huge aftermarket, is what I suppose make these cars popular.
Good bits:
- Starts first time, every time (seemingly regardless of how long it's been sat for) and runs spot on.
- Despite the inevitable rear arch rust, the shell is incredibly solid. The recent MOT failure states "rear suspension mounting area excessively corroded", this is literally two 2p sized holes at the end of the sill in both rear wheel arches (can provide photos if required). You could put a grommet in both holes and get away with it if you're that way inclined.
- Non-sunroof shell will make it more desirable to some.
- Stacks and stacks of history/receipts/invoices. I still have the service book and it's stamped and up to date.
- Included are a pair of new rear quarter panels, a pair of good doors and a good rear tailgate panel.
- Is an honest EG hatch that hasn't been molested by a youth within the "scene".
- Interior is in pretty good nick also.
Bad bits:
- Crack in windscreen that realistically warrants a replacement (which you can still get).
- Rear brake lines have started to corrode.
- Has a powered by fairy dust sticker on the rear window.
- Looks like a Salmon.
- Car needs an alignment if it's to stay on its current suspension/subframe.
- No MOT.
- Hole in the tailgate (good part supplied), rear arches need doing (new pair supplied).
I had started to collect bits to sort the car out. As well as the panels listed above, I acquired a new EG6 fuel tank (to suit whatever fuel-injected engine I may have put into it), a decent used set of Meister R coilovers, a complete DC2 Integra Type R front subframe, and a tidy refurbished set of OEM wheels to go on it. I'd be happy to work out some sort of deal to include some of or all of the above.
If I were wealthy enough of a man to have it lying around until I eventually found the time to do a bit of work on it, I wouldn't be considering getting rid. But I am neither wealthy or do I have masses of spare time, hence why you're reading the advert in front of you. That said, the price of £600 is relatively firm.
Car is located in the RG7 area, viewings and questions are welcome.
Cheers!
