Mechanically sound, starts first time. The 4.0 litre V8 sounds epic when it starts up, and has a nice V8 woofle when moving along. No overheating, even yesterday whilst sitting in M3 traffic and the outside temperature was over 28 degrees. Has a slight weep of oil from the rocker gaskets, common on these. But it's not flowing out, and leaves a couple of drops on the drive. What old, high mileage P38 doesn't?! Red oil light flickers now and then when on idle, but disappears as soon as you touch the throttle. Never comes on when driving, and two independent Land Rover specialists have advised this is most likely a faulty oil level sensor / oil pressure switch.
Prinz 80 Litre LPG Conversion. This works as it should. The car starts on petrol, then after a few minutes, it seamlessly switches over to LPG. It costs less than £50 for a full tank of LPG - which is around 60 pence per litre! The LPG tank is in the spare wheel section of the boot.
Registered with the DVLA as being LPG - confirmed on the V5 Logbook!
Coil Spring Conversion, therefore none of the usual suspension woes to worry about!
The gearbox is good and gear changes are as they should be. Not tested the low range, as not had the need to.
Off Road tyres all round, with meaty tread on all corners. These do cause a bit or road noise due to their nature, but have solid grip.
Externally, marks, blemishes and scratches to be expected. NSF door has a blemish / rust on paint. Bottom of tailgate has a few marks. A few rust blisters here and there, but this is not the usual P38 rot box! Still looks ok and has the menacing Range Rover presence.
Leather is in good condition, as are all the door cards. All seats adjust fine. Everything appears to work as it should.
Unlike most P38s I have owned, this has no warning lights, apart from saying 'EAS Inactive', due to the air suspension being removed.
Actually a really nice old bus to waft in, wallowy and boat-like, but quite soothing to drive in a weird way. And those seats are so damn comfortable, no back ache or discomfort at the end of the journey. They support you really well.
Comes with: One Key, Land Rover Leather Folder, User Manuals, A Few Bills and the V5 Logbook (in my name and address).
We have had our use out of it, now time to move it on. Ideal tow car, work horse, farm vehicle, etc.
Sold as seen, all inspections are welcome. No warranty given or implied.
