I've had both a HIF38 and twin HS2s. I'd personally vote for pulling the twins off and servicing them properly. If serviced well from the get-go they are barely any more faff than a single, I feel it really is exaggerated.
Sure they are less progressive but a lot more fun and look great. The response and torque I get from mine with several spacers (and a high lift cam) always makes me grin.
