It seems that the early 986 boxster has a known issue with air con pipes going pourus.
I have spoken to the forum and at least 5 other chaps have similar issues.
Can anyone on here make up air con pipes and cut/splice in replacements? It cant be that hard, can it?
Any help appreciated.

Contact your local automotive air con specialist most of these guys have contacts and ways of repairing pipes.
If it is just one local area such as around a clamp there are repair fittings you can buy.

Or just try Porsche themselves? Cant beat the fit of OEM pipework from experience, and they may have superseded the part to be better as well

alloy or the rubber part? alloy bit is tricky , but hosing is simple for an AC specialist , for Wiltshire try Halls Auto Electrical at Yate or DBS in Swindon

Cant beat the fit of OEM pipework from experience, and they may have superseded the part to be better as well Ray Singh should know this, but you knever know; as being a time long guy, OPCs tend to be cheaper than most people think, with quite a few specialists who should know better, charging more! A great shout about the updates to the hoses. Otherwise, I can recommend two other people: Motorite in Warwick - they may tell you to go to the dealer however . dickdasterdley ; he makes hoses for a living ; PAS hoses is what he cuts his teeth on, but he does do AC hoses, and that is for some very prestiguous cars. Say you are from RR and see what he can do. Rich is a pretty sound chap really.
