I think you need a mitsubishi l400/delica in your life Absolutely no interest in 4x4 stuff. Also not over 2.0 liter due to insurance costs.

My sister had a galaxy, used to thrash it up to Greenock from Hemel Hempstead every weekend because that's where their boat was, took it for a while, and then dropped the engine on the M6 one Friday night when the engine mounts snapped, a colleague had one of the badge engineered variants, can't remember which one, if you locked the driver side the passenger doors unlocked and vice versa, how handy are you with the spanners? 🙄

We had a look at one last year. We wanted to buy one for our Europe visit. The 2.3 is apparently the better pick. I haven't read much about one with a smaller engine but presume that a Galaxie (apparently also the pick of the bunch) with a smaller engine will struggle a bit with the heavy car.
But why not look at a small van? Like a 2 seater with kings size mattress load space? Very versatile. For work and fun!

I had 2 or 3 of them new, not a fantastic drive but not bad either, I had the diesels which were a bit under powered and not fantastically reliable, even new they used a lot of oil. One OF my colleagues has just bought a 2.3 petrol, needed a few minor jobs like a leaky radiator fixing but otherwise he has been very happy with it, the A/C even still works.

What are they? No, I am not great. But possibly better than many millenials. I do not need a constant project. Rather a larger Prozac With a towbar.

you can pick up Zafira's cheap, the A model 1.8 petrol is a bit thirsty and the 2.2 petrol isn't the strongest engine but OK and bits are cheap/plentiful, the B series had the heater motor/resistor fire reputation but most should be sorted now

Or, buy a Galaxie, instead of a Galaxy? 😀 Get LOADS of space then!

Morning mate Anything van like is not allowed at council tips and part of my exclusion criteria. After a 1400cc Berlingo power is not the most important thing Also think insurance would be more as it would be personal use. These days a hotel is good enough.

Cheap n cheerful is my way. Seen a £500.00 one on FB. Most cheap Seat variants range around £800-1200 it seems. I prefer the cheap ones as they are low mileage work horses doing 1000 miles a year. Glorified wheelbarrows really. Diesel vs Petrol no preference but happy to hear whats the better option. Also VW vs Ford powerplants.

But my perception is they are smaller than models in the title. Like Prozac it really would be more tool than family transport.

I'd heard that the 2.3 ones are the pick of the bunch engine wise but old cars with lots of niggly problems. I'd watch out for CO2 /engine taxation class as well easy to find a shock there. Not sure what to say about alternatives, we had a Honda stream which was great but suspect not much bigger than a berlingo inside by the time you leave seats in. How much bigger do you need ? Could put a nice roofrack on prozac ? James

The issue is Prozac is a van - standard Council tip exclusions apply here too. Van - need permit as there's an assumption you're "trade". Makes no sense, but them's the rules dreamt up by someone in an office.
They've clamped down on trailers here too; maybe think laterally - you can fit an awful lot in a Volvo estate; early V70's are peanuts these days. Probably holds more than an MPV. I was using a cheap BMW E39 Touring whilst moving house and using a temporary rented lockup as intermediate storage for the contents of my garage. Nothing failed to either fit in, or on the BMW - An 8'x10' shed was a mixture of in and on, but fitted in one trip.

Could put a nice roofrack on prozac ? James Was given this by a friend this week. None of my current cars, Blazer Berlingo or company Focus have a towbar. Company cars can only have Ford parts fitted by approved dealers etc...... gets very costly. Prozac towbar would be £200-400 fitted. So replacing with something a bit bigger and with pre-fitted towbar makes sense. If I could find something like this in LHD or RHD with towbar at this price......... Serena, Prairie etc all fit the bill. www.autoscout24.com/offers/nissan-prairie-pro-slx-gasoline-2c0a002e-79e4-4efc-8986-7358d8ee2f75?utm_source=web-native-share&utm_campaign=shareIt has to be out there.

Sister also had a Nissan Serena, commonly known as'the pig" because it was one, you could tell it was supposed to be a van. How many tip runs do you need to do, and what are you towing? I know you said 4x4 has no appeal, but I can't live without mine, even the electronic time bomb (P38)

I tinted the glass dark to create the illusion and folded the seats forward. Two weeks ago at the tip they asked if the seats were still fitted and peeped inside. I had removed one to get the Italjet Scooter craigrk had given me, in there and never refitted it. They missed that 😬 Wheels in. BUT You have triggered another thought, why not look at wagons too because of their sheer capacity.

Also not being funny grizz but your license does allow you to tow? We got pulled up in my son's disco since he doesn't have a trailer licence and we were pulling my 13' dropside one with it, I was driving but it's registered to him at 25yo, they seem to be hot on that round here and I wouldn't want you to fall foul
