For sale is this cute little French survivor, it's a 1993 K reg Peugeot 205 GRDT which roughly translates into 5 door diesel turbo in non-Peugeot speak!
I bought this car before it met an end via the crusher, it had been in service with it's previous owner since 2004 and I guess a change of heart led to it being binned, thankfully I'm well known for saving these where I can down this end of the country.
Anyway, having driven it to where it sits currently, I found actually it's a very nice car to drive and being a turbo, it's very spritely, I fancy a balljoint may need looking at for continued usage but still it's very drivable.
The XUD7 engine is virtually bulletproof and this one looks to have been looked after, the timing belt looks good from what I can see, the oil is still very clean and it's had filters at some point not too long ago, it's starts very well first time - I've had it sat for weeks and it's still good to go currently.
The interior is very clean with no rips to the grey cloth seats, the carpet is black and has a centre console which was bestowed on mid-range 205's, there's a Clarion CD player installed that works fine, the dash isn't too broken up for it's age, also the GTI style vacuum sunroof works a treat and doesn't leak from what I've seen (and we've had loads of rain recently) the heater works as do the dash switches.
It's had extensive rust removal to the body, the boot floor has been plated on both sides where 205's love to rot, also the inner wing at the front has been done, under the rear seats look alright, its had rust protection applied at some point under the car too. I have the V5 for it and also it has MOT until April 2020. It's no oil painting that's for sure but something very charming about how rough it is!
This is an ideal start into 205 ownership, it's pretty much had the problem points sorted and aside from the paint being scruffy as you like, its a charming looking car, there is some surface rust here and there from paint chips but no terminal rot setting in, I've priced it accordingly due to this and the fact it's got a comical one key for each lock on the car (that's fun the first few times haha)
Considering that I haven't seen another GRDT for sale for a little while and this one being very original, it's very much a blank canvas, you could leave it stock or slap GTI wheels and bumpers on her and she'd stand out nicely at car shows.
