Hi all Had a steady day on the camper today, spent a few hours making the last two cushions that make up the bed. Tomorrow should see the last part of the seat base made and also a start on the pull out part of the bed. I have an issue to sort with the curtains. I made them from the same material as the cushions but its to stiff for curtains. They won't hang right and look a mess so have ordered some contrasting grey houndstooth material which should be much better. Cheers - mike

Hi all, got a few more finishing jobs on the camper done today, the cold water system is in and connected along with the waste. The threshold strips are fitted for the side and rear door. I have also made the table and fitted the mount etc. Tomorrow I have a few jobs to do underneath it and a need to make up the sliding part of the bed. Cheers - mike

hi all
got a couple of hours on the vivaro this morning.
There were a few jobs to be done underneath and I thought I would get them done before the weather turns.
The plastic coating was coming away from some of the rear brake pipes so I have cleaned them up and greased them.
Were the wiring for the hookup etc goes up into the camper needed to be sealed with seam sealer.
The last job was to remove the spare wheel carrier as the camper will not come with a spare wheel as they are so easy to steal.
Cheers - mike

Hi all Got a few hours on the camper today I have made the frames that support the pull out section of the bed. Had a few issues with my welder to begin with. I think the wire is covered with fine rust due to being in my damp garage. They are done now and just need slotting in and the tops fixing. There's just the curtains left to make and a final clean up and she will be done and up for sale. Cheers - mike

I agree, storage is always an issue. I used to make rear door cupboards that sit a couple of inches into the door which were really useful. Nowadays rear doors aren't so deep and tend to have internal stiffening that gets in the way. Cheers - mike

Hi all
well, I appear to have a badly sun burnt face !!!
When I was welding yesterday I used my mig welding goggles instead of my welding mask and with the combination of goggles and high power, I have nuked my nose and face.
My nose looks like I have been in the caribbean for two weeks!!
Cheers - mike

Mig welding goggles? The only welding goggles I have seen are for gas welding. I have had sunburn from mig welding in warm weather and had my sleeves up. Anyhow great work on the camper van, would really love one but can’t see it ever happening. Norman

They are auto darkening and come in handy for tight spaces etc but you need to use the proper ppe. If you build your own they can be surprisingly affordable. Cheers - mike
