EXTERIOR
A stylish design by Pininfarina, this Peugeot 405 GLX is finished in original Peugeot Midnight Blue, (Code P0LA) and is in remarkable order. The often ding prone body panels are pin straight and only very light scratches and markings commensurate with age can be seen. All trim sections, lights and etched glass with factory labels are preserved factory fitment and the supplying Peugeot dealer number plates and factory labels in the door apertures further uphold the originality. Classic chic lines from Peugeots design heyday to truly take your breath away!
INTERIOR
The sumptuous and immensely comfortable interior is typically ‘of the era’ from French manufacturers with large soft seats and plush upholstery. The spotless Khartoum velour upholstery is virtually perfect thanks to the low mileage covered and the car has never been smoked in or carried pets. The carpets, headlining and door cards have been very well preserved. The fascia and switchgear are very good and the original Peugeot stereo cassette remains fitted. All functions and controls operate with exception of the air conditioning. A clean boot area completes the package. A spacious modern classic interior, brilliantly cared for and ready for family classic car outings.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The four-cylinder 1580cc engine develops 89bhp at 6000rpm to offer spritely performance whilst achieving a top speed of 109mph and 0-62mph in 13.6 seconds. The engine is wonderfully quiet and smooth, far more refined from the clatter of the XUD diesel but just as bombproof! The remarkably clean engine bay remains exactly as intended and displays factory stickers, plates and panel stampings across the slam panel. The five speed manual transmission offers light and direct changes with crisp clutch action.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The wheels remain fitted with the factory original full wheel covers which are in very good order but do have light markings. Matching branded 175/70 R14 tyres have masses of tread remaining. The twin circuit diagonally split braking system features ventilated front discs and rear drums to offer straight and steady stopping power.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 1 March 1995 direct from the Peugeot Talbot Motor Company Car Centre in Coventry, the car was supplied to an employee of the Coventry Ryton Plant. With just two further keepers since, the first of whom bought the car when it was only a year old and kept it for 22 years! A mileage and maintenance log was kept by him and it is clear to see the car has been looked after. The total mileage covered is just 48,898 miles which is verified in the vehicle history file, service book and previous MOT certificates. The dealer supplied Peugeot wallet contains all handbooks, operating guides and point of sale literature and the service record book contains nine stamped entries. Furthermore, the history file contains a large collection of invoices and receipts along with two keys and an original Peugeot 405 sales brochure. Extremely rare to see in this condition, this low mileage and very capable 405 drives superb and is perfect for skirting around spontaneously erupting maize fields!
