I know what you mean, from a ‘sensible’ point of view why would you bother, but I've never been accused of being sensible, and even SWOMBO buys things expecting me to be able to transport them, which proves difficult with the current p38 electronic timebomb daily! I should have said, thanks very much for the auction prices, one small point, why is there an asterisk next to the cortina crayford? Is it to highlight the fact that i still don't have one? ***sigh*** It was to remind me to re-visit the listing to check for any evidence that would suggest Crayford or other (?home?) conversion. Either way it's going to absorb a lot of time and ££s.

Probably just for the additional coolness, simple as that. Can you imagine if say, for example, your friends turn up to the party in their new fancy range rover, and you roll up in a six wheeled one. You win. I'm staggered by some of the prices some of those cars got, thanks for putting them up. Even that Fulvia that probably 80% dust got £1500! Where does the wheel one-upmanship stop? That's cool, ive never seen one with 8 wheels! I tried to beat it, but all I could find was a range rover that was a wasted opportunity, they could have filled this with loads of wheels!

That 8 wheeler is a photoshop. Would be nice to see a real one.

I guess the 8-wheel steer Avtoros Shaman has it then! If more driven wheels = prestige then the 16X16 MZKT-79221 intercontinental ballistic mobile missile launcher must be unbeatable? I imagine this would make for a very comfortable motorhome conversion, I'm seeing a rooftop infinity pool, helipad, wine cellar . . .

Now, if were going to stay on-topic whilst hijacking this thread, we should at least stay with car-type multiwheelers, that green tank thing (whilst awesome) is cheating. I give you.

Admittedly a MZKT-79221 motorhome conversion might provide you with a challenge if you wanted to thread it around the Cornish lanes on your Easter break but your centipede only has room for 2! www.carthrottle.com/post/citroen-centipede-10-wheeled-tyre-testing-monstrosity/

Some really ridiculous results from this, some stuff making massively over inflated prices and other stuff barely making market value. Factor in no V5 and some of the registrations not appearing on the DVLA database (I assume they were insurance write offs/other issues)it feels a massive gamble to take on these cars. I have read elsewhere that some lots were pulled due to doubtful ownership/provenance issues. I reckon loads of them will pop up on eBay with massively inflated prices sitting ages waiting to sell as people realise they've bitten off way more than they can chew and got twitchy bidder finger........

Lot 75 has found its way back onto the market. Hammer price was £3½K, which by the time you add buyer's fee and VAT on buyer's fee would have been £4,340.00 (plus transportation costs). I'm guessing the buyer found more issues than they had bargained for and are just trying to get most of their money back. www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1182657

If it looks rough from a photo, you know it's going to be ten times as rough in the flesh.

It's interesting how "high" that car is going for, theres a 635i down the road from me the owner has been pondering selling with the occasional ad being put in the window and then two or three days later removed (understandable dilemma). Can't imagine it would be much more than that car above.

It’s the winning bidders responsibility to get a v5 from DVLA? Good luck with that!

And judging by some of the other ‘id’s on some of those auction cars that should prove interesting!

The landrover looks like a mid 90's spec body, but they'd stopped making the factory V8s then apart from the ones they did for the 50th anniversary so it may be a bitsa build from parts and given a tax exempt ID, so really should be on a Q plate, assuming it doesn't have a dodgy ID because it's been 'borrowed' at some time in the past. whatever it is it's obviously not very genuine and the current ebay bid reflects that, it's at just over £1K with an hour to go, worth that to cut up, it will go a bit more yet i'd think but i can't see it doing the £2.5K it stands them at after buyer's premium. Looking at his other items he has the lancia with no engine as well www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1966-Lancia-Flavia-1-8-Coupe-Pininfarina-BARN-FIND-rare-car-only-3-known-in-UK/124041221390?hash=item1ce16ed50e:g:uAQAAOSwArteGNL4According the the list on the previous page, (belated thanks to the person that compiled that) that did £3,800 in the auction plus about £900 in BP. for a rotten car with no engine and no V5. ouch. I think neither if these will be sold, unless the seller is *really* sick of looking at them.

Yep, people definitely seem to have got carried away at that auction and overpaid. Used to love watching auction fever. Back in the day, I was at BCA at Brighouse at least once a week. My boss would buy ex-rep Cavaliers for pennies, we'd mint them to within an inch of their lives and fire them through the block. Occasionally, but not often, we'd buy something, sometimes just to have something to come home in. So, we'd stand on opposite sides of the bidding hall so I could watch behind him in case the auctioneer tried to trot the price up. Know the one, bid over your shoulder just higher than yours. If nobody was bidding, I'd shake my head and we'd sit. Either won or lost. Many times, I used to watch in awe as someone bid against themselves until the hammer went down at a price that left your head spinning. Good times!

Well spotted - there is a bit of something for everybody amongst that lot along with quite a few rarities - given that the sale is few weeks away and much of Herefordshire will sadly be still recovering from floods their could well be some bargains to be had - However this is a auction and has always people will get carried away - the E Bay genuine barn find traders will be out in force too hoping to make 4 times the actual value of something upon resale
