No idea with bikes and older ones. do finding this very interesting. is your plan to restore it to like new condition or usable condition or any mods planned? thanks bud. My plans with it are, at the moment, to get it up and working whilst still wearing all its patina (rust). The problem is, I will have to undertake some conservation work as although not rotten the frame is quite degraded, and just looks neglected! I want to preserve her history, whilst also making her suitable to be used. I have considered getting her up and running, then strip her down again and send the frame away to be powder coasted which is a possibility. I did think of mods, but i think I'll just leave the mods limited to the old triumph pipes. These bikes do look pretty good as a cafe racer, but I like the original look and there are plenty of cafe racers about. I think she end up as a rough around the edges original. Besides she's small enough as it is for me without lowering the bars!

Hi,
I'm new to the forum but having read your thread with interest, I thought it was worth letting you know that I have a CD200TA in mint condition, and live just north of Bristol.
If you want to know how anything is done then I can check on mine, or if you wanted, then you could come and have a look for comparison.

Hi robkg.
I'm asi new to this post and was wondering if you could point me in the right direction for the best place to by parts for a CD200 Benly?? I'm after some rear shocks , front headlamp and a replacement steering lock (lost keys). I'm sure there may be other things I need but these are on my priority list for now. Any help would be really appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
Ray

This thread has just bought back some memories. My old man had one as a commuter back in the late 80s early 90s. I remember it being laid up in the garage for a while. We was away and I decided to bring it back to life for him. Got it up and running, tore it up and down the alley trying to wheelie it. I did eventually get the front wheel up, then dropped it and bent the forks!! Only pic i can find of it, its hidden behind my rd50.

I’ve got a soft spot for little Hondas, have had several over the last forty years or so.
I currently have a CBR500R I bought new in 2016 as my “best” bike, and a couple of BSA Bantams. I’ve always got half an eye out for a C50/70/90, a C100/102, a CB250RS or one of the CD twins. I don’t really have the space or resources for another bike, but I keep looking. 🤣🤣

Hi, I'm new to this forum - and to forums in general. Proud owner of an on-the-road 1981 Honda CD200TB, aka Benly, just coming up to it's final MOT before it becomes an official Classic Bike. Am new to bike maintainance and restoration too.
I have a question, not sure whether this is the best place to post it, please signal me elsewhere if it isn't. Has anyone successfully replaced the standard RU14 headlight bulb with an led bulb? If so, which led bulb does the job?

Hello benlybabe . Paul Goff at www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/ is the best source of alternative bulbs and bike electrics that I know of. If he can’t sort you out, then I doubt anyone can. LEDs aren’t really that suited to retrofitting in headlight applications; it might be better to look at a halogen upgrade for the main/dip, and LEDs everywhere else to bring the loads down.

The cmsnl site is good for identifying parts and part numbers, here's the 'homepage' for my own bike
And I've found many spares on the David Silver site
