I've a little issue with my 3.2 which started last week, I went out to the garage and started the car it coughed and spluttered a bit which is unusual for it as it normally starts up on the button, anyway we went out in it but it became immediately obvious it wasn't happy, struggles to rev and almost stalls between idle and 2/2500 rpm but seems to pick up fine after that. It's a manual so I am able to stop it stalling by dipping the clutch.
To the experts out there or anyone who has suffered similar symptoms what should I check first?
CPS, engine temp sensor, coil packs?

Sparks and coils first I'd say

AJ6/16 engine? Bellows feeding the throttle body is no.1 culprit IIRC. Generally split underneath on the corrugated bit.

Sparks and coils first I'd say sparks and coils all good it's definitely over fueling as it won't restart when hot but will again after about twenty minutes and it stunk the house out! (Sorry Mrs VT!)

Bellows look to be intact however this pipe with the block on the end (more research required) does have a split in it. everything else looks to be in reasonable condition apart from the break in the mesh filter I would say, unless anyone can spot anything I've missed? I've ordered an ODB scanner to maybe make my life a little easier in the future.

That split will give the same issue - allows unmetered air in and screws up the mixture.
Needs fixing.

The “block” looks like a resonator. You see them often on induction systems as a way of fine tuning the inlet pulsing - sometimes they’re closed end tubes but have the same effect.

Yes, you seem to be right I've just done a bit of research and it does appear to be a resonator. Thanks, I'll let you know how I get on.

Now I've looked on a reasonably sized screen, the bellows section does have the usual oily deposits which can soften the rubber so well worth giving that a really good cleanup. The resonator fitting doesn't look to be split, just "popped off"? The groove looks like it should have the jubilee clip sitting in it? If it's a soft plastic it should seal OK - but it could be what I can see from the picture (and you have actual item in your hand)
