Bought some wheels for the Galaxy. Pretty unsure if it will work out. But in the mean time, centre bore on the Mercedes Benz alloys are 66 but on the Galaxy standard is 57.1 So it will fit. However, it has been mentioned and this is open to debate...... The wheel Lug Bolts are not enough to ensure a smooth ride if you fir the Benz items. So, Spigot rings. Brining the 66 Mercedes Benz centre bores down to 57.1 for the Ford. Can they be found online, or is it a ask your mate to machine them type of bodgetastic adaptation?? Thanks as always. Copy and paste from the thread. Collected wheels 3 miles from home. Seller was only 45 minutes late. But that was kinda predictable after speaking to him on the phone earlier Still, wheels in the back of the Galaxy and headed home. Will unpack at the weekend and see what I really bought 8.5J rears will be interesting to say the least.

Some people insist kittens will die without them, some people insist they're pointless. Personally I think they help to hold the wheels in place whilst you tighten the wheel nuts up in a star formation. Hopefully this doesn't spark a mass-debate!

Make sure you use plenty of copper slip when you fit them . Don’t want them seizing on the hubs & having to destroy them to remove .

I use Wonder Wheels too, it works well on brake dust that lesser products wont shift.
If I care about the wheels though I make sure I wax them afterwards. Harsh products remove any protection provided by anything else you might have used and I found that without rewaxing the wheels get dirty quickly and the dirt is much more firmly stuck. Waxed wheels stay clean longer and can be cleaned more easily. They have got paint after all, so treating them the same as the car body is sure to help that paint provide protection.

Fairy liquid, got CV grease off. Jet wash, wash with lots of fairy liquid (I dunked em in a builders bucket for 10 mins), sponge with fairy, jet wash again. Then wash with whatever car type shampoo that has wax in thats knocking about in the garage.

Copy and paste from thread. As you know by now, the centre bore differs significantly between Mercedes Benz and Ford. 66.6 vs 57.1 Ordered some ally items for £8.50 delivered this morning RESULTS OF CLEAN UP.Long day at work. Wet in London. Got home by 6pm. Sally got here the same time as I had texted her an ETA. So dumped the suit and tie, and on with my garage clothes. Unpacked the wheels out by the kitchen door. Checked for damage, and laid out. Followed by a big scrubbing brush, hosepipe and Cif/Jif/Handy Andy Amonia based cleaning agent. In the mean time, Sally got dinner started and more importantly, she put out an old sheet in the lounge for me to lay the wheels down on to dry. Cleaning wheels and tyres Once laid out for a bit to get the most of the water off, inspect again and then lay out for a pic, said pic taken and all the wheels checked. Then store upright. In my opinion the tyres are all beyond function as road tyres, but perfect for mocking up. Rears 8.5J wheels shod with 245/40ZR17” rubber Front 7.5J wheels come with 225/45ZR17” rubber. I am contemplating narrower rears, possibly 235 on the 8.5J wheels, or less if it is doable. Increasing sidewall ratio. Fronts are good with the 225/45 rubber. Dead tyres. Clean up Done. Very pleased..... still.

Remember as you reduce the width of the tyre you reduce the profile as well. The "40" ia percentage of the width, so a 235/40 will have a slightly smaller radius/diameter/circumference.
I know some cars ABS systems can be confused by a front to rear difference (although one size down won't make much odds)
At a guess, the 40 and 45 difference between the Merc tyres probably equalises the 225 and 245 widths. Certainly, my MR2 has 185/55 fronts that are the same diameter as the 205/50 rears.
There probably won't be any issue, but just FYI

My bigger concern is getting those 8.5J wheels where 7J lives/used to live.
May need to move them on and find another pair of 7.5J’s
To me sidewall is more about comfort but I will play the hand I dealt myself.
Fingers crossed.
