Underrated and unloved The W202 Mercedes is by far the best car I’ve ever owned, over 35 years and somewhere around 500 cars owned This is the one I miss most C250TD I will buy another mint one in the new year if I can find the right car

Totally agree on the W202 C250td being a superb car. My C250td was my second W202 but also the best by a mile. Fairly easy to get a little extra get up and go too.
Finding a good one is getting harder. I miss mine too & wish I hadn't sold it. I owned it for just over 10 years & purchased it from the guy who bought it new.
I would have a another without much thinking about it if I didn't have my scimitar in the garage.
Of all the cars I have owned I seem to always end up back with either a Mercedes, Honda or a Ford.

The mk6 Escort RS2000 always got a kicking from every angle. But truth be told these are brilliant cars for B road blasts. I think the biggest problem for this car was living in the shadow of the Escort Cosworth and as a result the “purests” hated it or didn’t want to like it.

I did hear that someone at Ford (SVO??) created a rwd prototype which was amazing, but got stamped on by the accountants because ‘there’s no market for that!’ 😳

Definitely my Suzuki Baleno / see RR thread Aquiring a blank canvas few months ago. A pocket money investment really but turning out a good car. In essence powered by a Vitara engine with 16 v head it keeps up with modern traffic / does 45 mpg and people ask me what it is. Fitted larger Mazda MX5 alloys / induction kit / rear silencer delete replaced with two side exit pipes and a CB Radio to listen to chatter on motorway journeys. Under rated even unappreciated in fact yet to see another but its a fun retro that can be modified without fear of losing its market value. Photos below.

Started out with nothing and have most of it left.

The reason the Mk6 was unloved was the mk5 got such a slating in the press that the Mk6 had no chance of making an impression. Having had 2 Mk5s, I don't think the slating they were given was fully justified, although the Kent and CVH derived engines should have been left in the past where they belonged! All the very best, Geoff.
