28, has been at that for over a year now (dispite changing cars). Will be 29 as soon as I figure out what my next daily is.
My dad owned 6 or 7 cars in 50 years, I had 7 in 1 year lol.

Between 35 and 40 In 20 years of driving, minimal compared to some folks here but over 20 of those were mk1 golfs so I'm sure I can be excused

I think I'm at 15 in 34 years driving but that is owned/regd/run properly , not quick turns , scrapper or racers which would more than double that figure.
Edit that...16....found another finger.

Okay, here goes...from memory (a few of these have threads on here but due to the great Photobucket purge there's not a lot to see:
1993 Rover 414SLi - crashed that 2004 1.2 8v Fiat Punto - all my insurance could cover after above crash 2003 Seat Ibiza 1.9 TDi PD130 - chopped in for... 2004 Seat Leon Cupra R which had water leaks & blew coil packs, leading to 2003 Porsche Boxster S - then in a fit of economy I picked up a 2006 Seat Leon Ecomotive - all plastic, giffer specs'd, 60mpg
It's about now that the 'interesting' car hobby help kicked in and dates become hazy...
Perodua Nippa (purchased from this here parish) 1974 VW Beetle 1303 1973 Campervan 1971 1200 Beetle - bought as a project and never completed Mk1 Golf Karmann GTi - bronze, bought as a non-runner and also sold as such on here in 2008 Mk1 Golf Karmann GTi - blown HG, so thought I'd take it out and put an ABF in from Mk3 16v ABF GTi - bought as a breaker Mk1 Golf with a slush box - bought from here with short MOT (2 days), given the biggest fail sheet I've ever seen and immediately scrapped. Mk2 Golf 1.8 Driver - with more more desirable weber carb (ooh) 1989 Audi Coupe 2.2E (http://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/50676/1989-audi-coupe-2) 1987 Mk2 Golf GTi 8v 1991 Mk2 Golf GTi with ABF engine conversion 1991 Mk2 Golf GTi bought from a local old guy, failed MOT, sold on for far too little 1995 VR6 Corrado which never ran right (http://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/157393/1995-corrado-vr6-ralph) - bought a Mk3 2.8 VR6 as an engine donor but that never happened. Mini project - never completed Polo Breadvan - never completed A hateful, hateful 2005 RX8 that never ran right Honda Acty pickup truck, drove 'til the MOT ran out and then sold on - it was recently sold on for a massive profit but still hasn't been MOT'd in about 4 years. 1998 1.3 (more power baybee) K11 Micra - bought, did some silly things to, failed MOT, scrapped 2000 W210 E55 AMG - wrote that off almost exactly 5 years ago. Short-term replaced with a 2002 1.0 3 cylinder Corsa C that still lives on within the family Renault Twingo purchased from this here parish - drove until the MOT ran out, now dry stored and awaiting time for me to get her back on the road. 1998 Ford Puma 1.7 - which really really was a hoot to drive, and a still kind of miss 1999 Honda Legend - choice of motor for the Weekender last year,, stupidly low and sold on for - deep breath - a wee bit of a profit 1993 Eunos Roadster 1.8 S Special - sold through this here parish Moderns at the same time included a new new Beetle in Bronze, followed by a 2014 Diesel Golf
The current stable includes: 2017 VW Tiguan for family duties 2009 BMW 123d twin turbo with a remap that does the commute 2002 225 Audi TT - that's my current hobby car with the wheels, downpipes, exhaust, remap, coilovers, brakes etc. etc. but maybe a little modern for here 2003 3.0 BMW Z4 that barely does a few hundred miles a year - but those miles are great fun :-) 2002 Renault Trafic van that's inching its way toward a camper conversion but very, very slowly.
I make that 38 so far :-)
EDIT: 39) X308 XJ8 Jag 40) 2004 Porsche 911 996 3.6S
Had to make 40 a good one ;-)
EDIT 2: Z4, TT and Jag have gone, but
41) Renault Scenic 1.6 16v added as a potential engine donor for the Twongi
EDIT 3:
Scenic has gone to the great banger ring in the sky (change of plans) which made way for
42) 1996 Toyota Paseo 1.5 5EFE, which was soon sold on and replaced by 43) 2005 TX2 LTI London Taxi...for the bants 45) 2020 Volkswagen Golf 1.5 (for the wife 😁) 44) 1994 2.4l Volvo 850 for lugging duties
EDIT 4:
They keep on coming... 46) 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ 4.0 inline 6 47) 1987 Ford CROWN Victoria 5.0 V8 48) 2004 1.3 VW Polo (saved from my sister and imminent scrappage) 49) 1996 Daihatsu Hijet 1.0 CB42 50) 2003 Mini Cooper S R53 51) 2001 Dodge Dakota 3.9 V6 pickup 52) 1973 7.5l Buick Lesabre 53) 2001 Suzuki Wagon R+ 1.3l 54) 2023 Volkswagen Golf (daily for the missus to replace the last one) 55) 2002 Mercedes SLK 200 56) 1999 Audi A2 (to replace the BMW E87, a victim of the ULEZ) 57) 1997 Citroen AX 1.0 58) 2010 Alfa Romeo 2.0 JTDm Sportwagon (daily derv duties)

Ive been driving for 35 years & have owned 28 cars.
Out of the 28 cars 17 have been my daily drivers. 4 of the 28 were weekend/fun/spare cars. The rest were bought to use as donor cars for one of the kit cars or to use as parts for mods.
Out of the list I still own 3.

At present I have 9, the last time I counted 7 years ago I’d owned 250+. 5 years ago I owned - Merc clk Audi TT roadster BMW 728 Ford puma Range Rover p38. Got tired of taxing one every month so sold everything and bought a Cayenne now I’m back up to 9. - Cayenne Astra GTE Nova Audi coupe A4 convertible BMW e90 Fiesta Fiat Ducati Qashqai But I know I’ve at least had 3 cars pass through my hands this year. I just can’t stop, even though I’ve not got anymore room and I actually need to spend time looking after the ones I’ve got I still find myself looking through the classifieds

I think I'm at 26 in 25 years. One BMW E30 touring, one Audi A6 Avant, one Skoda Fabia and all the rest have been VWs, mainly Beetles from 1951 onwards. Think there's a list on here somewhere. Yep, 15 Beetles from 1951, 1961, 1966 (x2), 1968, 1970 (x4 including one breaker and one with a 1974 bodyshell), 1971 (x2 including the school project), 1972 (rolling floorpan only, ended up with one of the 1970 bodies on it), 1973 (Karmann cab floorpan), 1974 (x2, one for breaking, the other just a floorpan). Then there's the 1971 Karmann Ghia, the 1970 and 1981 campers, the two 1993 mk3 Golfs, the 1992 and 1994 Passat estates and the 1986 Scirocco that I've never driven. I'm not including part shares in cars or the ones I've bought as donors for my wife's projects either, even if I did register them in my name!
|
|
1968 Cal Look Beetle - 2007cc motor - 14.45@93mph in full street trim 1970-ish Karmann Beetle cabriolet - project soon to be re-started. 1986 Scirocco - big plans, one day!

Ive been driving 31 years and I think I have bought one a year - pretty pathetic to most of you on here.
Every year my resolution is to not buy another vehicle. In 2019 I didn't get out of January before making another purchase......

Amazingly I have only had 11 - generally because a) I have nowhere to keep a fleet of projects but also b) I tend to have a daily driver and keep them until they're going to become too expensive...

Absolutely no idea. 50+ I would say, and almost all of them absolutely terrible.
Even 'Er Indoors has managed 15 or so in 23 years.
Compare / contrast my grandfather who had 5 cars in a 50 year period...

19 I think. Mini, Mini, Metro, Maestro, Maxi, Maxi, Escort, Lada, Maxi, Pug 405, Granada, Chevette, Maxi, Micra, Maxi, Maxi, Micra, Cube. 18 if that list is right. There is still far too much alcohol hanging around this place to garruntee its correct, or that I can spell.

I've currently got 5 cars and one motorbike.
I've got a spreadsheet and photos of almost all my previous cars - 154 owned and registered to me since 1 was 17, plus about 20 motorbikes (didn't keep as accurate a record of them for some reason).
|
|
Currently driving a '68 Karmann Ghia as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!
