LR the wing steady bar went right through from series one to defender I think, so 1948 to 2018 ? James I've been told that the only component that was used throughout the Land Rover production, from Series 1 to the last of the original Defenders, was this - the steering swivels oil filler plug. I can't confirm this (wouldn't they have switched to a metric thread, at least, at some point?) but that's the legend. Apparently the only component that never changed on the Mini was the saloon roof panel (although BMC did change to thicker metal early in production). The windscreen seal lasted a very long time unchanged, until Rover came up with a wider version in the 1990s, which was better at keeping leaks out. You'd think they would have addressed that problem before!

Peugeot TU engine was about 30 years iirc. very close, 28 years, though the EC 1.6/1.8 is very closely related. the xud ahould only made till 2001 really lives on as the dw crank and block are derived from it, the turbo crank is the same part number as the old 1.8 turbo that was in the bx, 205 405 309 and rover 218/418.

The parts must be external - engines are not as standard an external part unless you have a hot rod! Smith gauges are in everything - they would win outright but the part needs to be branded to the car The fiat / ferrari indicator lenses are probably one of the best - they really are on every italian motor across a huge period. I worked at a Ferrari place for a while and on one of our track days there was a line that included 512bb, Testarossa, F40, F50 and the then new Laferrari. My colleague parked his 1996 punto next to them and pointed the side repeaters out too me!

The Bentley L- Series engine was introduced in 1959 and is only being ended once the current Mulsanne goes out of production. 60 years!
