This has been a long time coming as I got home from this holiday a year ago today but I suddenly find myself with a bit of time on my hands. We covered 2000 miles on this trip starting in LA, heading to Death valley then back to the coast via Sequoia national park but enough of the holiday, you can see that story here its the cars you are interested in. Be warned, this will be picture heavy. Day one was travelling and after the flight we stayed near the airport in El Segundo and car spots were off to a great start with this parked outside the hotel; day 1+2 7 by Dave Campbell, on Flickr Day 2 and the real trip starts. Left the hotel and headed down towards the next hotel. Interesting photos, thanks for sharing. Me and the Mrs should have been flying to San Fran in May and driving the slightly less adventurous route to LA and over to Vegas, can't see it happening now Ah no way. I hope this didnt rub salt in that wound. I have done that route in the past as well back in 2010. If its any consolation I'm sure the places will still be there so stay in, stay well and you will be able to go once this blows over. Dave

Ah no way. I hope this didnt rub salt in that wound. No, not at all, has given me an idea of the kind of thing that's out there should we wish to take a detour. Fingers crossed it does happen at some point.

I can't believe how many classics are just abandoned! In the UK they'd all be scraped up by the scrap scavengers, cleared by the council or sold on for parts / resto. I guess there's just far more open space in the US, and far more cars. I really enjoyed that, thanks for sharing your photos!

After a bit of searching I think I have identified the two mystery test cars I spotted on the way out of Death Valley. day 7 pearsonville 10 by Dave Campbell, on Flickr The big car looks like a disguised 2020 Hyundai Sonata; And the smaller car looks to be a 2020 Hyundai I20; What do you think? Fascinating, thanks for sharing! Loved the Queen Mary video, an itch I have yet to scratch. Queen Mary was great for a visit and a real treat to spend the night on but I wouldnt spend anymore than one night. Saw everything in the day we were there and $18 for two cokes at the bar and only one restaurant at night with nothing cheaper than $30 on the menu would make it really expensive really quickly.

Great thread, thanks for taking the time to post all the photos. Brings back memories of a West Coast trip we did in 2015, loved it! We woke early to sun in the desert one day (in 29 Palms) and drove north several hundred miles to find a snow blizzard in the afternoon crossing the Tioga pass to get to our B&B for the night in Yosemite. Such varied landscape and conditions, makes for great road trips!

Great stuff. Some lovely american metal there. My guess on the test cars was going to be Kia as it looked like the Stinger but Hyundai seems on the money.
