I was spotted last week coming from work.. It's my daily drive. Not the most comfort but it makes up for it with power😊 very satisfying to be able to keep most others behind you.😎 And due to the light weight and oversized engine it's not thirsty at all. 16km/l with 'spirited' driving is nice.

When its not winter, my 91 Lancia integrale is in daily use - I think 10 yrs of daily all year round use, gives it leeway to take a winter break these days - up to 200,000 in the clock now. Its still the best, most fun, safest feeling winter car I've ever had - failed to make progress up my back road commute home in deep snow once, forcing me to reverse out and go a different route. So winter use is an Alfa 159 Q4 that only has just under 100,000 on the clock and is only 16 yrs old. Foto's? Thom

Me. Just used it last night in fact. I'm starting to wish I didnt lower it during the pandemic though as its a harsh ride when full of musical equipment. I'm trying to use modern Cars for further away gigs where possible these days but my other one for local stuff is a 1979 Capri Ghia. Edit... just realised I may have posted this before... apologies!

Modern is a relative term. When I was a VCC member in the '80s my '51 Vanguard was considered almost too modern.

Does this count as retro?? If you ignore the number plate, it certainly feels it!! Without question. Even the TD5 variants feel and look old now. Compare them to the latest Discovery, the L462, which has been out for a long time, they're very different machines. The L462 is basically a more spacious, cut-price Range Rover L405, which isn't a surprise really. I'm now trying to think what the last of the older 'less utilitarian than a Defender' 4x4s were in Europe, before the Jimny hit the scene again.

Modern is a relative term. When I was a VCC member in the '80s my '51 Vanguard was considered almost too modern. I think it depends on the crowd, and people TBH. I know in the 00s, the Mk3 Escorts were considered retro, and oddly, weren't as desirable as the Mk4s, bar the RS Turbo. It's fair to say that has changed. Mk2 Escorts, MGBs, Spridgets, Minis and 02 BMWs were well into the retro territory back then. Christ, this place used to like me (or appear to), having an '89 Volvo 740 GLE. They were, however, back then, cheap, relative to earnings. Retro cars weren't necessarily cars everyone wanted. I don't think they had the cool factor that they do now. They were cheap, and easy way into having some motoring fun . Just look at what was around at the time. Dial-up internet, Nokia 3210s, ISDN internet was extortionate to buy, as were laptops & TVs.

Well this must be the worst car I have owned, it is archaic in most ways imaginable. It is used regularly on the road and drives terribly but it is amazing off road in the mud etc. and makes up for it. We got this as we were told it is the most basic style with virtually no electronics and manual trans, 300tdi diesel ,so far it's worked.

This wasn't supposed to be a daily, bit juicy but otherwise far more reliable than the ST TDCi Mondeo that is supposed to be the daily

That is the one thing using Classics/Retro Cars daily... someone other than you is likely to damage it! A day after I took the photo above. I got home and a neighbour hit mine. I have no evidence only hearing it, seeing them pull up and going out straight away. Not a mark on their car and apparently a "BMW" was also coming the other way fast . This was clearly someone driving across the front of the car though. Trying to find any ring camera footage etc has come to nothing so looks like I'll be buying myself a new indicator, corner bumper, sorting that dent out and straightening the metal bumper. While misses 22 plate volvo carries on wearing Rab coats and meeting other mothers in the park for coffee... not annoyed at all. I know what you mean ChasR . I've had this one 10 years as of yesterday and about 13 years ago when I started looking there was a fair few to choose from for about £700, still not that sort after in a way. I remember trigger buying the Red 5 door mk3 for £500 which looked to be in time warp condition.

Had a knock in my workvan too, Luckily for me, 3rd party insurance agreed payment in lieu of repairs, I’ve found/bought all the bits I need, just need to sort getting a old stock door painted and fit it all together and swap over. Good luck getting it sorted Running round currently with a slightly janky temporary door, with matte Montana rattle can paint job

I nipped into morrison's to buy a drink and came out to find someone had driven into my 205 so hard it made the c pillar badges fall off. No note, they'd just scarpered.

I think your right about that. The husband of the woman who hit me thought it was all a bit whimsical having an old car. I guess if you drive brand new cars all the time its just like being into washing machines to them.

It's not always fun to daily a retro... Didn't know i had a tempered windshield, expected it was laminated like the old one😅. Unfortunately had a part of it on my lap this morning. I'm glad i was not driving very fast so most glass stayed in place. Organized another windshield so i'll be fitting that tonight. Need to warm up first from my 50km drive without a windshield..🥶🥶

I do again finally! Picked up a low mileage but visually rough 1992 Passat G60 Syncro. I guess I was kinda dailying a retro when I was borrowing my dad's 1998 Chevy C1500 from time to time though ^^; I can get picks that too, but it's honestly kinda boring to me idk
