Sick Week looked great, slightly less road driving and the RT rule made a huge difference to getting the cars down the track. Always makes me laugh every year when these events pop up and everyone gets excited and starts talking about how the UK never does anything like this.. Well a few years back now I organised an event called the UK Power Tour and we did exactly this. We ran it in 2014 and 2015, it was amazingly hard to get the tracks in the UK to line up some dates and play fair with each other, but we pulled it together for a couple of years and had great fun. A lot of people that are in to drag racing, also race competitively, so trying to make sure dates didn't clash with their championship rounds was hard too, but we managed to pull enough together to get the event done for a couple of years in a row. Couple of articles written in various magazines on it and some photos I have just dug out... We even made some cool trophies for the events!

Dave Newburn of Finnegan's Garage has been following it and there's 4x videos on the link below. Some mind blowing builds and a Volvo 240 estate running 6's. Not sure but don't think it's an original engine www.youtube.com/c/FinnegansGarage

It was amazing fun, and very rewarding when it all came together. I do enjoy event planning especially when it involves a big road trip!

Think for something like Sick or Power tour to work in the UK it would probably be more towards sprint/hillclimb rather then straightline? That then unfortunately means fewer interesting cars and a wealth of scoobies/clio/ porsche type track cars if something of that ilk could be made to work?

Only downside for me was heading back from Woodhall services with roshambow with his very poorly 305ci Firebird The makeshift drag strip down in Rye was definitely the highlight for me tho

I think the HUGE burnouts at Shakespeare County Raceway may have had a little something to the engines' early demise, up until that moment though, that Firebird was a fantastic machine! Pics above to prove it

As already said drive combined with sprint/ hill climb may suit more people here Are one of the track day organisers involved with sprint events ? Could open up potential venues
Retro Rides Power Tour
Sounds good to me Hotwire

Well a few years back now I organised an event called the UK Power Tour and we did exactly this. I don’t have any recollections of these events and am very much gutted that I missed them! I was big into hillclimbing around this time so may be the reason why it passed me by. A multi-discipline event would be awesome. Such an event exists, One Lap Of America. By all accounts it is more brutal than drag week but doesn’t seem to get a fraction of the exposure.
