6 Wheeler customs from back in the day....

This was built by my dad in the early 80s. Inspired by the big Peugeot estates, with three rows of seats back in the day, which he could not afford. He ferried us 3 kids, mum and the grand parents, plus a large dog or two all over the place in it. Often it towed a trailer, either with his Ransomes vintage tractor or his trials car on the back. The winch on the front, driven by a geared down starter motor, was useful for getting out of muddy fields.
He basically took the standard scamp chassis, stretched it by around three feet and added the addition set of wheels on the back, which was a scamp option. Initially powered by an A series 1100 engine, it latter went on to have a 1275 engine bored out to 1340, high compression pistons modded head, Reece Fish carb etc. Not the most attractive vehicle around, but hugely practical, the 4 wheels on the rear made for stable towing and being front wheel drive didn't interfere with traction, that some rear wheel drive cars suffered with an additional dumb axle.
Once us kids gained our own transport, it didn't get used much and was sold on and vanished.

That's pretty cool FYI it's still on the DVLA database, no tax or MOT, last V5C was issued 14 August 1991 ........ it might still exist

I’m not an expert but I think that’s all Marina from the doors back. Escort tail lights don’t wrap around the sides.

I miss this sort of car built for a laugh, when old cars were cheap and simple enough to do silly things with. It's probably held together with rivets and 20 kilos of filler, and would certainly never pass any modern day examination, but who cares as long as it could get to the NASC nationals (Knebworth or Bruntingthorpe era) before the rozzers caught up with you.

Really annoyed with myself, didn't grab a screenshot earlier this week but on of the FB groups threw out a 6 wheel 70s Charger or Challenger... saw it, thought it needed to be shared here and now can't find it🙄

It stood many years on a lawn in Varberg. Owner had it as a daily before.

Some conversions have massive potential, but a simple error in the design can throw things off course.
A 6 wheel Chevy Apache could have worked, but the huge overhang wrecks the look of this for me...
Don't know much about this beyond appearing in an FB group.
