The DVLA has a financial interest in there vehicle now, and until it is settled - which I doubt it will be - it remains their property in lieu of payment.
I sadly suspect this wee A2 has a date with the crusher in its not too distant future.

There's one thing I forgot to mention, the somewhat rare 1.6 petrol version, with 90hp, was one of the few newer VAG motors that won't cope with E10 fuel. Why or if it can be remedied, I don't know, but it was something I discovered when I was looking for one way back.
I always thought one of the newer generations of VAG 1.2 petrol turbo motors would be great fun in one of these. Loads more power and even more economy. They go well enough with 75hp, so 120+ would be a right little rocket. They only weight 1800lbs or so.
Oh and beware the glass sunroof. They stick and you can screw the teeth off the mechanism, unless it's regularly used and taken care of.

The 1.6 is an early, if not the first VAG FSI engine and likes 99 RON so it needs to be E5 anyway. It's 110 bhp.

As a point of order VAG, VW-Audi Group, were the UK importer and ceased exist in 1993. They were a private company owned by Lohnro, not the manufacturer.
However, the name is a triumph of marketing in Britian and all these years later folk still refer to VW Group cars as VAG, even though VAG were merely never made a single car other than two Beetles.
The company folded 3 decades ago when VWGUK, a wholly owned subsidary of the manufacturer, replaced it. I guess VW in Germany decided it was better to handle the Uk imports themselves and keep all the money rather than let VAG continue to handle it and take their slice of the profits, so when the franchise ended VW themselves took over.
As for the two cars they did build, or at least aswemble... The original Beetle, as we all know, was never officially called the Beetle. That was just a nickname bestowed upon it by the press and public. Well, at the VWGUK warehouse in Milton Keynes are the two last Beetles ever officially imported into the UK, and these are the only two ever badged as "Beetle", albeit that was done by VAG when the CDKs (the weren't complete cars as delivered) were assembled. I have fond memories of helping to assemble them, which was tricky in a warehouse only really kitted out for PDI's and not proper assembly work.
So unless a VW Group car is pre '93 it isn't truly a VAG car, and even then VAG only imported it, not built it. Of course, its even more confusing now that in Germany Volkswagen Group (the public name under which they trade and under which all the brands sit) is legally known as Volkswagen AG for purposes for share trading!
