They're a really good looking estate, especially in that dark green metallic. You didn't see many out and about when they were new, they must be virtually extinct in the UK now.

If it has a 24V engine from new then it's a very rare Carlton 24v "Diamond" Estate - very few made and sold, less than 100 from memory - I saw a brand new one in a local dealership back in 1993 that was actually a manual - I was more interested in that one than the Lotus Carlton that was also in the showroom - no idea where that Diamond Estate went it's never appeared in the club circles.

If it's getting a heart transplant then it's a "not so rare but still not common" 2.0 Diamond Estate and will be a nice drive if upgraded to 24V

The problem for Diamond Estate survival for many years was they had a very nice full leather GSi bucket front seats (looked very similar to those in the Lotus Carlton - the GSI3000 12 & 24V's only got half leather) so many got robbed for their seats so that Lotus Carlton Replicas could look closer to the real thing......

Yep genuine 3.0 24v manual which I've owned since 1994, you should be familiar with it from a few billing visit

Last time I went to Billing was maybe 2014??

Before that I don't ever remember seeing a manual 24V Diamond estate - lots of autos but no manuals

Mostly I have been doing family business and work, and wondering when the vague smell of sheep will deminish from the Fiesta. That Lanoguard must be good stuff...

I've had an unfortunate "had to complain about work I had done" which is taking me in a circle on one project, I won't go into detail until I see how the worker responds to the complaint. Its not a mojo booster though for sure.

I have been making plans, and being offered WAY more cool cars than I can deal with, some are bargains, some are free. Some cars will need to go, some cars will need to be moved up the priority list.

I am now dating a lady who's family owns an old bus garage and a farm with an empty tractor shed. Hmm....

Mum's RAV4 broke down (I Many have mentioned) and the next job is to sort that

Also my auto electrician has retired so I have had to find another, I was recommended another guys, who is also retired now, and do finally found one, he is only 62 so I should be good for a few years with him.

Speedy Spares has announced it is closing down so I think I will do a run down there to stock up on Humber service and maintenance items.

You have seen it but it was much nicer then, 380,000 miles has taken its toll now! I think it was Billing about 96/97 when it bought one of your go faster chips

Pile of out of action cars we have seems to be climbing by the week. So therefore list of stuff to do before I can get on with the Beetle is climbing.
I think 2024 is going to be a write off for it, but maybe getting all the other stuff done and having clear decks will mean that in 2025 it can go full body off pan.

Must be Carlton estate week. Bought this off a banger racer. Rough as a badgers nadgers cosmetically but seems good underneath, and after a initial "what the f**K have I done" moment when various electric things including the gauges went haywire 5 miles from the sellers place it drove better and better the further I got. Electric problem traced to a broken mirror adjustment switch that must be shorting somewhere as I knocked it on the A1 and the electric thing happened again. It's blowing a 10A fuse that I need to investigate, but shouldn't be too much trouble.

Didn't really need another project I'm justifying it as I can sleep in it at RRW.

That is ACE. I've got a proper soft spot for '80s and '90s RWD barges. Which probably isn't unusual here, tbh.

I've managed some T5 stuff this morning. Couldn't figure out why the tailgate was leaking until I Gummi Pfelged the seal and realised the leak path was due to badly routed wiring for an aftermarket reversing camera. Some household wire, silicone spray, brake cleaner, insulating tape, and more silicone spray and I've got the wires routed properly.



Not exciting at all, but we've just had a downpour and it's still dry in there so it's a success.
