yeah 10k is the sort of top end of my price range, but I hope to do everything myself, i'm currently learning to TIG weld, and theres nothing I don't mind jumping into.......
i won't be thinking about anything as expensive to race like a turbo car, let alone a cosworth......plus i can use my staff discount at work (midland performance centre) to get all the racing and safety stuff i need.
its the pre 93 >1600cc class i'm interested in.
thanks guys

looking into the TTRS it seems good, can't seem to download the regs anywhere on their site though.

What about an early Ibiza? Unfortuantly the top spec is a 1.7 but there is also a 1.5 which if i'm right in thinking has more power than the 1.7 if you get the right spec. Could be a different choice.

I know you said you'd been put off Rovers, but what about a 216 GTi? It's a CRX engine in a cheap hatchback, and you can get it as a 3dr, 5dr, or 4dr 416 depending on which you prefer (I'd have thought a 3dr for racing)

i drove from fife to exeter yesterday in a CRX, non import model so only revved to 8k but easily mapped to 9k and was a pretty nice little car imo, plenty of power too

looking into the TTRS it seems good, can't seem to download the regs anywhere on their site though. I think that TTRS is pretty much the same regs as pre-93. John who runs TTRS and the Production BMW series was previously affiliated to Classic Touring Cars and has moved to TTRS - so assume the regs are the same. Good luck. If you want to ask questions of current racers I would suggest the TTRS part of the SELOC forum at forums.seloc.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=15. The TTRS series is a part of the Lotus Enthusiasts Club.
