Stance comes primarily from a straight axle front end Like this; People have been known to drive all kinds of death traps on the road

I don't drive a gasser but I do drive a tall narrow car with the factory fitted beam front end and buggy spring. It wanders about quite a lot and I can only imagine a car that has been deliberately raised up further can only be a lot worse.

How about a real British Viva Gasser,
|

Atmo V8 Power . No slicks , No gas + No bits missing . Doing it in style. Austin A35van, very different------- but still doing it in style, going to be a funmoble

Mark awesome find! Like that (down to the colour even) but with four doors and not quite as extreme. That HC looks as if it's on struts at the front!
Cool HA n'all.

We've got Street Addicit, the yella Super Snipe and a friend is building a Gasser Pop. Took a couple of photo's of SA in the snow, not much room on the driveway hence the photo's aren't very good. I think you can see what Samm was talking about with the front axle. (if that's what you call it, I don't do oily bits!I leave that to Sniper & his brother) I feel sorry for the poor thing in cold, it's not used to the snow. Been tucked up in a dry garage for the past 15 or so years! (Sorry for being a bit girlie there)

Sniper's not driven Street Addict on the road yet, only had it a couple of weeks and still needs to check a few things out. But a friend of the chap that built it said that it didn't handle too bad, probably a bit like driving our other Snipe in snow. We'll let you know once Sniper's tried.

Part of things
Don't like stretched tyres, very low profile tyres & I think a car CAN be too low. Perhaps I'm odd.

mate of mine had a gasser style Mk2 Consul done very simply.
Rear - Original sagging leaf springs and 14" yank steel wheel/tyre. Front - tall springs from a Zodiac, stock 13" Consul wheels/tyres, no bumper
Budget 'look'!
An easy equivalent on your HC would be a pair of new springs on the front (or maybe Victor FD ones). I put new stock springs on a HC I used to have and it was a high-rider! I ended up cutting a coil out to get it to sit right. Couple with 4.5x13" Viva steels fitted with 5.90x13 crossplies at front with wider/lower radials at rear, job done!

for a mild and cheap gasser look, you could probably space the subframe down and extend the steering column shaft. get some 14" stock minor steels on the front and 8x13 wellers out back
