Right, I can't be doing with two hanging about!
It's time to say goodbye to MYB, my '79 Black 1500SE. It's a lovely old motor, having covered ~93,000 miles. Whether it's on it's original engine & box or not I've not looked into but anyway...Taxed till March (I think) and MOTd till Febuary, so could make a cheap winter hack or little fettling project.
Mechanically - a few minor issues. It sometimes suffer from the cold clutch judder, I think this is engine/box mount related. Once it's warmed up it's fine. Sometimes it runs on after stopping, albeit only briefly. There is also an occasional groan when on full right lock.
The engine is beautifully sweet and a treat to drive. With some choke and a prod of the pedal it fires up instantly, even after a month in storage - don't worry, I do prime it with oil first by turning it over on the starter for a good few seconds. It shows no sign of wear, any issues and goes well for its size.
There is, however, a blow from either the downpipe or the join between the downpipe and main exhaust.
Gearbox is lovely to use, with no odd noises. Overdrive works fine and engages/disengages rapidly. The car rides well, with no undue handling ailments. Will cruise quite happily at 80.
Bodywork is OK with a slight ding to the front valance, some filler in the rear arches, the usual over-headlight gunk and corrosion to the bottom of the inner door skins - plus the usual dinks, chips and scars a car of this age usually accumulates. Outer door window seals could do with replacing - ah yes, someone's backed into something at some point and dinked the bumper/mount.
Inside the car is fitted with a black HL interior & column surround, has 2 speakers in the rear parcel shelf, two rear seatbelts, a radio cassette, etc and all instrumentation and gauges works well.
Wood cappings are SHOT so need replacing or some work.
There is also quite a substantial wedge of history with the car along with a few random spares and so on.
Overall, a great little car to drive, ripe for some simple restoration and modification. Or just leave it as is!
(louvres and spoiler NOT included! )
£400 or offers
... for this black beauty? You're more than welcome to come look at it, or make me an offer. I'll be back on the 15th of December but viewing could be arranged for the 8th/9th/10th as well
