Can we have a 'guidelines' sticky on the FS&W page for good nettiquette please? Have noticed of late a few slightly undesirable practices going on.... EG. - Traders using the fs&w as a 'freebie' without contributing anything elsewhere - n00bs signing on and their first (& last?) posts being desperate attempts to snaffle a free Mini - n00bs offering slightly derisory sums. It's one thing when you are 'old hat' about here to make a cheeky offer, but signing up just to blag on the cheap is a bit naughty, n'est pas? - non-auto related stuff appearing (although I guess if there is a 'swap for car stuff' option it's OK ) Just a thought. As you were. P.Weasel Esq.

couldnt agree more. don't think a sticky will make any differance tho. New members shouldent be able to sell stuff on there at all imo!

Minimum 25 posts before being allowed to post in the For Sales IMO...that's the case with a lot of the Land Rover forums, seems to deter the spambots.
I did actually put that up somewhere else this afternoon, I think it was that 'Turbo Roadster Mini' FS thread (the glorified Noddy car with no actual turbo on) that made me do it.

Having seen a n00b trying to bag the Fiat Strada as a cheap runaround (with a VERY cheeky offer), have to agree. Getting involved first has to be encouraged.

Will you be complaining when someone comes on and offers some old rare thing for £50 as their post? I've deleted threads in the past for some of the reasons listed above, but don't forget that you always have an option not to buy, or not to sell. I shall try and keep an eye on things (with my moderator head on), but I don't want to discourage either new members or potential bargains!

If someone wants to use this forum to predominantly buy and sell things thats fine by me,.. it is after all an open forum. If someone is selling something you don't want, or don't need, or you don't agree with the selling method please ignore them, because they are clearly not relevant to you. The only other fair way to deal with it is to stop all buying and selling through the forum... post count means nothing when you are selling something. After all, this dodgy geezer's second post was selling a car...

I think its fine as it is! OK some nobbers take the pizz a bit but they usually get a mild flaming or leg pulling before quickly disappearing down the board. For every duff ad there is an interesting one so I say its a good recipe as is.

I was gonna suggest a minimum post majig when I saw Pogs initial post, but then you risk not getting the OAP-Special that's being punted on by their kids, and were brought here by some Googlage or summat.
However, less scammers and wee-removal, yes.

All I'd want weeding out is the non-car stuff, but moderators seem to do a good job of that anyway so my problem isn't a problem at all! We get the odd only-here-to-sell member but what if their next bit of non-MoT'ed tat turns out to be really rare, or just what you've been looking for. PLUS the leg-pulling they get is fairly amusing

If someone has something retro and they want it to go to a good home, but don't have the time necessarily to post on here regularly, I see no reason why they shouldn't advertise on here.
Or am I not seeing straight?
