The banger boys until fairly recently prefered RWD non fuel injected cars, the vast majority of ropey XJ6 Jags, Granadas, big japs and Volvo 200 series estates have ended up on the circuit.
As been stated by Simon and David, other than us fruitcakes on the retro-rides forum few will mourn their passing.
A few racers do occasionally contact clubs and offer parts very cheaply, so not all banger racers are cads and bounders!

Not quite the same situation, but a few years ago I bought a Ford Corsair for £70.... it had been standing in this guy's garage for 9 years with the engine in bits... a WEEK after I bought it, and several times thereafter, this muppet rings me to ask me if I've done anthing with it.... er, HELLO, if you're so concerned, why didn't YOU do 'something' with it??
I eventually sold it for spares...
As for the bangers, I can't honestly see people being killed in the rush to buy a rotten Lynx Eventer, can you?

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Good work Mr.B ... I saw a LOVELY White Nissan Laurel at lunch time, which makes me sad that I live so far away from that nice Red one that was on here a last week,... pay me train fair back and fuel to get there and i'll deliver the laurel to anybody who wants it 8-)as it will drive anywhere without a problem

It *is* a shame, but like so many others have said, if no-one wants them then there's not a lot that can be done. I suppose I'd sooner see them go out in a blaze of glory than rot away in a field for years before being scrapped...

Nick, I'm not being funny mate, but if you've got so much money, you buy them. Not everyone can afford to rescue old cars. I was the wolsley version of the Austin A60 for sale not long ago, I'd love to have it but I don't have £400. It probably ended up on the dirt oval, but there was nothinig I could do about it

That's not the first Eventer to be bangered....
Also, I heard the Churchill VdP was bangered as the seller couldn't persuade any collectors to go for it, which did seem strange.

I've got a few mates who are banger racers and i've seen some of the rarities they have destroyed, before and after the races, believe me, alot of what they use (last 1 was a MkII Dorchester Limo(Granada)) are very rough cars, too far gone to restore, and all the good bits are removed and sold. I've seen some quite rare tin raced over the last couple of years, and its been good to see them being enjoyed in the last few minutes of their lives, after being stripped of all useful parts.

rot away in a field for years before being scrapped... ....I have this vision of someone with a field full of cars rotting into the ground, that they 'saved' from being bangered......

This banger racing argument keeps coming back and the same things are said each time. Better raced then rotting in a field I reckon.
