I've built a (basic) website using the free stuff from 1&1 & I'm not very happy with it. Is there anyone on here that knows how to get the best from the stuff they supply on their site, or give me some pointers how to build a nicer one for my photo's & link my domain to it? Thank you muchly

No problem mate, I've managed to very basics, but i don't like it! All I want really is a simple & easy photo album design, but that doesn't seem possible with the standard stuff from 1&1 & I have no idea what to try next

theres a couple of threads started in this section, have a look, you'll still have to read inbetween the lines like i am though. bit of a battleground subject area for the 'beginner', so much tech jargo everywherez! check some of the other threads and see if any help.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I'm also currently blundering blindly through the website-building minefield! Although I reckon I'm going to get someone else to build it and sort out the hosting... it's too much work for me!
I'm producing my own graphics and layout ideas, then I'm going to send it all to a web designer and let him crack on! ;D

www.mrsite.co.uk offer an easy, simple DIY approach. It may have what you need... it looks fairly similar to what you have already, but their software might be easier to use (I've never tried them so I'm only going by others that have used them)

Dreamweaver MX is perhaps a bit too much for anyone starting out, it likes to have full control over everything site-related. Perhaps you'd be better off looking at an earlier version first, which will let you leap right in and get designing, before trying MX or it's easy to be put off by all the buttons. Personally I do it all in Notepad Oh and make sure you have at least Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 installed, and test the site in both.... the more browsers you can make sure it works in, the better.
