Didn't want to put this in the main board, so thought i'd put it in here. This to computer experts is going to sound like a dumb Q but i'm gona ask it anyway. If you suspect an advert on ebay to be a scam, is it a bad idea to email them a Q like if they are genuine or not. The only reason i ask is can they then f%#k you over some how by getting your information?? Cheers.

Worst case, you get 38 emails a day offering you knock-off rolex & cheap viagra. Just don't let them have any personal information at this stage.
If it's "ask seller a question" inside eBay, check the box to hide your email address. If it's a hotmail or similar & you're really worried, fight fire with fire by setting up a dummy account specifically to string along consters.

if you use Yahoo mail, you can set up multiple disposable accounts specifically for replying to possible spammers.... as soon as it starts to fill up, just turn it off.
