There is strictly no FWD cars or modern stuff allowed on the show field. For more details PM me or go to www.turtlespeed.co.ukDefine modern - I can understand the FWD bit tho ;D I don't know, its so difficult. Monza's are great so I would welcome it, go on my forum and see (the show is a group effort you see) but i'm sure you'll be more than welcome. I would even accept some FWD like mk1 Golfs but thats cos i'm a fan myself. Cheers and see you there!

What I actually wrote was ' I would accept Golfs as I like them. But its not down to me. If you've ever been to a custom show surely you know what to expect to see there?

So is my car a 'chav car' then? its most definatly fwd and i think most people would call it a 'hot hatch' too. It even has a dump valve and shock horror... blue samco hoses straight out of the 'demon tweeks' catalogue! can i come if i turn my seats through 180degrees and drive in reverse all day?? On 2nd thoughts i think id rather go to PC world, It sounds more welcoming and at least people there wont look down on me because my car has the wrong type of load storage area entry point.

looks like a fantastic venue! but this is decending into a world of 'politics' that I hate. IMO you need to state firm rules of what is and isnt welcome. If you are saying no FWD, then that has to apply to all. And if you want traditional rods then surely that gonna be pre 60's or 70's cars? just let people know the boundaries so theres no arguements Will aircooled vw's be welcome? edited to add - do they do good milkshakes there?? ;D

Air cooled VW's are featured on the new flyer. The Splitterz will be there too. Its very difficult saying what is and isn't allowed there. When i first started going to custom shows you didn't need to put down any boundaries, people knew what to expect to see at a Custom Car show. It wasn't all Customs, there would be standard Consuls, Yanks etc. And FWD cars in the form of 80's yanks. All we are trying to do is stop the hot hatch boys from turning up and i don't mean metros i mean saxos with 6" exhausts, neons ICE and standard 1.1 engines. Its obvious that i've p1ssed a couple of people off with this but to be honest i'm past caring. This event is about chilling out and wandering round cars, if these people get wound up this easy they probably wouldn't enjoy such a chilled out event. As i stated before, the rules aren't made by me but by the members of our website. The new flyer (which i will post on here tomorrow) shows a 32 ford, a 57 cadillac, a Hoodride Beetle, a 1967 Vespa and a 1958 Triumph Tiger hopefully this will make it a bit more clear.

I only asked cos I know a few guys locally who will probably go and I'd like to tag along for the drive but I don't own a rod - yet and Modern is a bit of a catch all!!!

Having pm'd Mitch to ask about my car (a Hillman Imp if the avatar didn't give it away!) I must say I totally see where here's coming from. Saying "no hot hatches" and "no FWD" I think is a fairly generalised way of saying "no chav'd up Max Power saxo's, corsa's" etc. Think maybe ya may have come across a bit strong mitch Don't forget though, we Essex'ers tend to see quite a lot of "chavmobiles" about.....!! If you've got something retro/classic/custom/a bit different that could easily appear at a similar sort of show, just PM Mitch and ask

i guess the trouble is that is sounds like its gonna come down to whether some bloke on the gate likes your car or not, and i don't like the sound of that. Again you've contradicted yourself by saying people expect to see FWD yanks at a show like this, when you have previously said no FWD. Mitch, look at wheels day - ANYTHING goes. But because of the way they promote the show a) the 'boy racers' don't really find out about it and b) those that do, it doesnt appeal to massively. Why not just say everything has to be 15 or 20 years old. Surely thats gonna be loose enough boundaries to attract what you want, and keep out what you don't.

I can't believe some of you are making this so complicated. OK, so maybe I should have said 'No chaved up boy racer Saxos with 6" exhausts etc.' but that doesn't seam politically correct, or no hoodies or Burberry caps. If you come down in anything unusual you will be in. Thats about it. I'm sure some of you have been to shows like The Nats or Billing? Well its that kind of thing. I don't own a rod myself, I own a 66 Sceptre but i'm not going to stop myself coming in am I? If I had hair i'd be pulling it out at this point! Keefy, there are hopefully going to be quite a few air cooleds there as I am friends with some of The Splitterz and the staff at Karmann Konnection and have advertised in there. I am also going to put a poster in Bernard Newbury's and Big Boys Toys. As far as I know there isn't going to be anyone on the gate, in fact I don't think they have a gate!
