Was reading this month's CC about how popular the Brack Pack's Breakfast Meets are.....thought I'd test the water and see who'd be up for one up here??
Not yet....maybe a Sunday in April when there's better chance of decent weather.
Was thinking maybe the Hollies Cafe on the A5 about a mile east of J12 of the M6...place is open 24/7 (has been since 1962!!), hardly Haute Cuisine but if it's a good old-fashioned monster fry-up you're after.....top scram.
Its location makes it ideal for anyone travelling from Brum, Telford, Stoke, Derby, Tamworth, Burton, Lichfield, Hinckley, Worcester...it's no more than an hour away from any of those towns, and even places like Nottingham or leicester are only slightly further away.
An early meet-up would give us the chance to go on a run out afterwards, or even gatecrash one of the established midlands classic car meets....could be a convoy shakedown for RR '07!!
Anyway, if anyone's up for it.....get yer names down and we'll take it from there.

Fastest service I've ever known.....and after 18 yrs driving wagons I've been in a few greasy spoons! I love the place, when I was gigging (as I was up until 3 yrs ago) we used to stop off there at ungodly hours in the morning for a fry-up, I've been sat in there scoffing sausage egg and chips at 4am before now!

I've subsequently found out that 22nd April is National Drive Your Classic day, which is promoted by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs. www.fbhvc.co.uk/events/events-fbhvc.htmIf no-one at RR has any objections, I'd be happy to provide them with the meet details and they will add it to the already growing list of events planned all around the UK for that day. I'm happy to spend all day there, it's only 45mins up the road from me, so if we said 10am until 4pm it gives everyone the freedom to come and go as they please, coz I know some of you guys don't like to arise from your slumbers until lunchtime!! The A5 headed west of the venue has one or two Gatso's on it, but is ideal for those who fancy a quick blast (or even those who want to take other RR-ers on a quick blast to show their car off!!), basically anything goes though, if you want to sit round drinking tea and bench-racing all day then that's cool too. I'll give it a couple of days then for some feedback, then give the do (and Retro Rides, and RR07) some publicity if that's OK. :-)

Sunday April 22nd, 10am-4pm
The Hollies Transport Cafe Watling Street (A5) Gailey Near Cannock Staffs WS11 0BJ
The Hollies is situated on the north side of the A5, 1/2mile east of Junction 12 of the M6.
Everyone and his dog welcome, customs, classics, daily drivers, anything...... if you're new to the forum and/or your ride's not on the road, come down for a plate of greasy scoff, a mug of tea and and some bench-racing.... see what the fuss is all about!! :-)
Massive car park, nice and smooth out the front, bit dusty and potholey out the back.
Easy access to and from the M6 and the M6 Toll, nearest garage 1m away at junction of A5/A460 in Cannock.
22nd April is the FBHVC's National Drive-it day.....what better excuse do you need to jump in your wheels, bring your mates and have a day out.
See you there??
