Well that was not funny, well maybe a little. So despite the Cortina blowing oil all over the engine bay and then unbolting the starter all by itself it actually ran like a dream all the way home. Didnt stall thank the gods. I was bloody wound up though, better now ive downed a couple of glasses of wine Thanks for the slightly pee-taking support folks, will track down some bolts tomorrow, and clean up the engine bay and breathers. Glad to see you got home, At least you made it there and didn't end up stuck on a roundabout 5 miles short C'mon, put a bit of effort into it.

Bestest picture ever from a Norfolk meet Aux wasn't a happy bunny He had an arc welder under the bonnet and hadn't brought one He needed a 11mm spanner and it was missing from his tool roll He had a starter in his boot when he left and not in the engine bay Aux mate - it's OK cars curse word on you every so often it's the payback for all the fun ;D

Probably well of topic but Jack and others were discussing stuff and this is relevant Here is my "late" Uncle Jacks BMW 327 (well they look similar and numbers and me don't get on) as printed in a classic car mag in 1995 The text probably won't come out very well in photobucket - sorry Anyway he is the main reason why I got "into" cars and we did get into some heated discussions over the years because that BMW 327 has never been on the road since it was restored - it was trailered to a few few shows but never MOT'd (another story) and I felt that was wrong but he would not bend the MOT rules to get it a ticket..... Anyay it was only after he died that I realised why he never put the BMW on the road and used it in the way it was intended and whilst I loved my uncle Jack for being an inspiration to me and for making me a complete petrol head it was only after he died I realised that driving bit wasn't his passsion - what he liked to do was take something that was past saving and bring it back to life. RIP Jack Crane - very probably sorting out problems with transport upstairs as we speak/type - you are missed by myself and probably quite a few others

Still in the "old showroom" at the family home where it was parked after that photoshoot and it hasn't moved since!!! Along with - FOrd Pop - Austin 7 - MKI Scort with rally pack - various vintage motocycles It's like a little museum that you can't get into just peer through the glass

On a chirpier note, starter is sorted on the Cortina... got some bolts off John at Goldendays, who also mentioned that its not unknown for the crossflow starter motors to 'undo' themselves

That was a great story Mr B, ur an old softy at heart arent you!! Aux, I'm glad I'm not the only one with car aggro. Mine goes but I'm not too keen on the couple of water features that the car has at the mo. Suprise, suprise, the vendor told me " Unlike alot of Scimitars, this one doesnt leak"......Lying c***!!!!!!!!! Spent yesterday trying to keep it water resistant, found the problem as well, there is a small "cut out" made at the edge of the passenger door. Why, God only knows, but the water is curse word in big time and it may well need another new carpet. Funny the vendor told me about the brand new carpet that he had only recently installed in it........................... Id have loved to have seen the Cortina in all its glory, I would have helped push it too Hope to be there next month.

Should be there, but Retro-less again unless either the Galant or Accord get through an MoT with ludicrous ease before then. I definitely won't be bringing the 240K...

probably best to say for those that haven't been before. we park in the overflow carpark, go through the main carpark and through the gap in the hedge and round onto the grass. we can't be seen from the ordinary carpark so some might think its a wind up. HTH
