Suprisingly, Yes (I seem to have an inherent distrust of those who make a movie after the author has passed on) It's really not far from the original TV version and does a passablely good try at the book. Look for the cameo

They'll have raped the books majorly. That much is to be expected. I still think it may be a slightly enjoyable slightly-comical Sci Fi film but it won't be anywhere near the comic genius that Adams wrote. btw....Been playing this for a few days now... *n

Adams co-wrote the Screenplay for the movie,.. the TV series (that he wrote) differs from the books (that he wrote) which in turn differ from the original Radio series (that he wrote). All version of HHGTTG are different.

Yes but completely ruining some of the best-written jokes in history is a bit below the belt.

Yes but completely ruining some of the best-written jokes in history is a bit below the belt. But you can't do the books word for word,.. or it would be a 10 hour long movie. This thread is spiralling off topic,... currently my desktop is default windows blue as I've just got a new machine

Pah, films of books are usually naff, the film version of Nineteen Eighty Four was great but it differed too much from what Orwell had originally planned I thought, the script is a good bit different, with some quite significant bits missed out or skimmed through too much, besides, I always imagined things differently, the voice coming out of the telescreen when Winston and Julia get captured was much more intimidating and mocking in my imagination of the book than it was in the film! ;D ;D ;D Just noticed Hotwire's last post, so to make things a little more car related, here are some cars favoured by Nineteen Eighty-Four style opressive regimes... ;D ;D ;D The Chinese CA 770 state limousine Caucescu's special edition ARO (from Romania) A ZIS/ZIL 110 (they changed their name to ZIL after Stalin's death to remove the word "Stalin" from their name.) in a Russian Governmental procession, which I haven't been able to confirm but I believe is Nikita Kruschev's inauguration as Premier of the USSR. Alright, it isn't totally relevant, but it's a start! ;D ;D ;D

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

That escort is VERY reminiscent of Danny Allen's Golf.
