Well I was always concerned about the vinyl roof on my commodore while it was in storage - it hides all manner of horrors - I had nightmares of peeling it off and the roof skin going with it...... I went to see it the other day as Ivor (owner of the field where it's been stored) had asked me if I wanted him to fit in a few small jobs on the car as he had a couple of slack days..... I'd said when rwdrules dropped the car there if he ever got a bit quiet he could start doing a few bits to the car any welding - cos mine is rubbish - and stuff like that - that was 2 years ago and he hasn't had a single slack day!!!! Anyway roof was lifting and blistered So it was removed ;D So what was it like One spot I don't like by the roof gutter Other side Actually worse but not too bad but it will hole if a knotted whel goes near it so it's on his list to cut out and french in new steel Doesn't look like they put much paint on the roof before they stick the vinyl on it  So all things condidered it's solid up top...... Now inderneath well thats a different story for another day

Nice to see an update on this BC. Fibreglass filler and a new vinyl roof?

Nice to see an update on this BC. Fibreglass filler and a new vinyl roof? Nope - no filler and no new Vinyl roof for this. New bit of steel if required So anyway I'd been doing lots of planing for a long while and a plan had been coming together but what I lacked was time and as several people here know my welding skills are pretty shocking and this is going to need some welding - Utterpiffle if you are reading this you gonna see how much ;D (we have a little side bet for fun see) So whats it need Well a new rear valance was always needed Rear lower sections of the wings (both sides) Little repair patch in front of the rear wheels Looking inside the car maybe a little more than little And definately some work on the sills But the nice bit was most of the interior was removed (which was knackered and never going to be used anyway) the floors and shuts as well as the doors are all in fine fettle looks a bit nasty by a grommet on the rear wheel arch but again small stuff I am so pleased that the Roof is good So thats where I am just waiting for Ivor to have some space on his ramp to look at the rest of the car underneath and meantime I need to search for some panels but only as much as I needed when I got the car ;D

Dead cool, Commodores Rock Hard! I'd love an A but they're not exactly commonplace, are they!? was one on the bay just a week or so ago - TBH untill AKKU posted up some pics of them I never realised the A's were ven sold in the UK - first car show I ever went to there was several Commodore B's and I'd never seen one before I just thought nice shape - one day I'll have one Anyway panels delivered today - rear valance and lower quarters SWMBO said I guess thats parts for the Monza - what else I said ;D I delivered them to Ivor today so if he gets a bit of free time on the ramp he'll put em to good use ;D Please don't think it's a chequebook resto BTW it isn't but with my welding skills (or lack of) and my plans for the car as well as the several other things I have on the go at the moment I'd rather let Ivor sort the rust out - I see if I can dig out some pics of his work one day more work as it happens but meantime I need to finish a couple of other things and build an engine for it ;D

Yeah, i bid on that one and lost out in the last 20seconds. What are you going to do with the engine in this one? If the Monza is anything to go by i'm sure it will be of interest!

Back from the dead Hell fire it's on the ramp So outer sills required - fabrication job but I cannot believe it but the inner sills are totally solid Rubbish pic but you should be able to see inside the sill - it's rock solid Real valance and lower rear quarters already sourced repair panels Just a bit scabby on the chassis rails at the front Floorpan Hopefully Ivor will have chance to sort some stuff while I am on my hols

Not really an update just an explaination for a few RR'rs that need some pics to explain what the heck I was babbling on about last night Inspiration They did a "Kit" for the commodore Steimetz I think but it's a bit....... well see for your self It's just too much - wide bottom'd But this is better But still a bit to much like a plastic body kit stuck on and it probably is Utterpiffle had it spot on Nova I don't need much extra width in the arches I don't want to glue or bolt on stuff and blend it all in with wag Should be able to Modify the existing with a 9 inch angle grinder sliting blade, fillet of steel and a welder ;D

You'n me are on the same wavelentgh WRT flaring the arches chap! Nova arches have crossed my mind too. I'll be interested to see how your cut'n'shut endeavours turn out. 'm thinking it's gonna be difficult to get a decent finish on them, but I'm waiting with baited breath. I'm still liking th eFrontera arches myself, but we'll see.

Not so much an update more a general info and reveal of part of the plan for the car Three of us clubed together to source some custom parts for an engine conversion I have been working on for probably 7-10 years (speed isn't my strong point) Anyway all the essential parts have now been sourced and paid for one of us has cracked on with the engine build - not me I hasten to add but the first of the three 3.7 Litre 24V engines is being built up Spec Blanced Lotus Calton Crank and rods Custom Forged Pistons JE - 11.0:1 Compression Ratio Lotus Carlton block decked and fully cleaned bored by 0.5mm to suit pistons So a few pics of the progress Block bored and head surface skimmed (just to clean) Pistons assembled on rods – ringed up and ready to fit Damn they look nice Ready for the crank Crank in Holes filled Aren’t they a long engine So one of the key parts to mate the gearbox to the engine was the flywheel So CR500dom recomended a company 20 20 Vision (TTV) - great guys and they made this (x 3) So it's a custom flywheel Built to take - Audi S4 Pressure plate - std Monza Friction Disc - Bolts to an LC Crank - Links engine to a getrag 265 gearbox using std cable operated clutch mechanism Additional Features- Ring gear is integral with flywheel - machined from same billet - not shrunk fit and tig'd on - Weight 5.3kgs  Well two are as they are destined for track work but one is a little heavier for a road car Further work So anyway that gives most of the game away as far as the engine for this project straight six of course
