while Phase 7 is still in progress, it's time to start another Phase: Phase 8: Turbocharging The Rear Engine the twin-engine concept has proven itself with standard engines, so now it's time to start adding power, with help of booooosssstttt ;D. the first part of the Phase 8 story is all about acquiring the most important parts: and getting custom bits and pieces made too! you can find the first part of the story (with 32 pics) on THIS PAGE. thanks.

HoTWire> no, they (?) haven't. street> well it's actually not like it seems, as the story is running late behind the real situation, so i'm able to gather, organise and present the pics for update in one go and therefore a single update sometimes cover a lengthy period. for instance, we didn't just buy the chargecooler, radiator and pump in the last couple of days, it took quite a bit longer, but we're woking on several things in parallel and when it comes to present it in the story, i chose to make it look logical and organised . however, sometimes (usually in the last week before the race), we do work on it "flat out" and updates get to "in real time" speed.

Sounds like its running very nicely! I'm interested to hear how well it all works in your next race, I always thaught turbo'd engines didn't suit the twin engine configuration, but I'm happy to be proved wrong! Your an inspiration Quick Q- Your still running a single radiator up front, right? Are you able to run the front engine alone with this set up, does it have warming up issues at all? What did you do about the thermostat in the rear engine, does it have one? I'm thinking about going for a single radiatior up front in my twin engine project, but I wasn't sure how it would all work if you wanted to run one engine on its own

yes, single radiator and it works fine. i know a person that it didn't work fine for though (in a Golf). thermostat is still there in the rear engine, but i plan to remove it, to have better flow through the coolant system in general, especially as the rear engine gets let cool air flowing around it and with the turbo setup you want the engine a bit colder too (helps preventing detonation). i didn't know you've had a twin-engine project on the go as well! i've just had a read of your topic and you're progressing well. i'd stengthen/box the rear end of the car quite a bit more though, especially seeing all those quality ford panels . anyway, in your situation (having boot space!), i'd go for a twin radiator setup, like the Durocco. there's a twin-engined Kadett D that works fine with such configuration (even with the radiator side-mounted iirc!) and there are no hoses to plumb through the car. p.s. fix the link in your signature . hope this helps. looking forward to updates on your project .

Thanks for the advice I think i'll see what kind of space I have after the engine is in and then hopefully fit a rear rad in somewhere I've got a load more strengthening to go in so not to worry, and thanks for the heads-up on the signature! Anyway, enough on mine, good luck with the race, i'm really interested to see what times it runs now its turbocharged!!! Awesome machine

Hope you keep the body looking stock as it would be the ultimate sleeper! I dunno, a Dimma kit with functional rear vents appeals...
