I'm off to a dance music festival so no progress until tuesday now

I was still in the holiday modd on tuesday so i've got nothing done until tonight

Most of my attention was on finishing off the oil filter relocation and the oil cooler plumbing/mounting. As you have seen in previous pictures, the oil filter has been relocated to the O/S/F wheel arch, in front of the arch liner.

I had to make a hole in the front panel



to allow the 90 degre oil cooler feed/return lines to be fitted.....



without catching on the front bumper......



I then mounted the oil cooler to the front bumper



this allowed me to work out the lengths for each pipe to and from the remote oil filrter housing before making them up and fitting them.

a little of each bumper support needed trimming to get enough pipe to mount clearance

If all goes to plan, i should be updating again tomorrow evening

The front mounted oil cooler is cool, form and function together.

It does give the game away a little, but it probably an necessity and it looks proper hardcore so who cares!

I didn't quite get the car done for ultimate street car at santa pod this weekend just gone, gutted. I would have loved to taken her down the strip.


Anyway.......Back to the build photo's

Glen helped me bleed the brakes



the oil return pipe (brace bar lol) for the turbo was welded in to the sump





and the sump was refitted



The idle speed control vacuum pipe take off and CO pot housing that I had made out of ally were welded onto the shiney pipe kit I got from eBay



The downpipe was hitting the drivers side drivshaft so this is how the problem was solved



Finally, the turbo bolted into position



A quick mock up of all the pipes etc





I gave up on the coil overs for the moment and fitted a 60/40mm kit with some matt black 5.5x13" rims with toyo R888 185/60/13 road legal semi slicks. The tail pipe has been "stealthed" as well



Just for a giggle, I took it up to the local weigh bridge



760kg with all the interior in, with 1/3 of a tank of petrol. So with the guesstimate of 190bhp, that'll be 250 bhp per ton.

I have not driven the car on full boost yet as I forgot to run a bead of weld round the intercooler pipes to stop the boost pipes popping off under boost. As soon as I would hit 0.7 bar of boost, pop, off come a boost pipe lol

My mate has sorted that for me so, hopefully it'll be done for a proper run this weekend

Theres an underlying menace that is seeping from this car - but only to those that are wise to these things (i.e people like us) But to anyone else its a Boggo old beige Polo - that is, until it blasts past front wheels burning ;D

I'm toying with the idea of stripping the interior to get weight down and power to weight up but i'm undecided. I need to drive the bloody thing first lol

I'm picking up a mk1 polo tomorrow night, if it's any good then i'll post some pics, i'm thinking of using a polo gt engine (1.3 10.5:1 compression 8v) on bike carbs, stripped out, one seat etc for a daily runner to and from work

I'll then have a mk1 polo on carbs, a mk2 polo with a turbo and a mk3 polo with a supercharger. I like me polos just in case you hadn't of noticed ;D

Unfortunately the toyo semi slick had to come off due to clearance issues but i've finally driven her a proper distance with no teething prblems

The exhaust note is really quiet, even on boost, and you can hear the turbo spool up nicely over the noise of the engine and the dump valve does its job very well. If you drive it around town, off boost, absolutely no-one, even hardened petrol heads would be able to tell it's turbo'd

Well happy with it, the diff is taking a little getting used to, the front tyres squeal while going round tight corners lol

The apexi avc-r I borrowed off of my mate to control boost is an amazing piece of kit. It hits 1.3 bar peak a levels out at 1.15 bar.

The few people I have taken out in it get out of the car smiling after giggling like school kids when we go up the round spinning both front wheels in 1st, 2nd and a little in 3rd. Two of my friends now want one lol

I'll post some videos later if I get the chance to give you an idea oof what it's like on the road

It's a mate of mine driving, the first pass is near enough spot on, the second pass he doesn't give it beans in secound becasue he starts laughing as does the passenger, it makes you laugh for some reason

We've put a mk3 polo GT engine (3f) into a mk1 golf on twin 40's with a 276 cam, just needs setting up and it'll just nudge into 100bhp territory. It did a 17.4sec quarter mile at santa pod. Not bad considering it is really rich at the moment
