Hi HKP, Still haven't tracked down my similar vibe. I have played with the diff nose angle to know it isn't that now. I did find this company : www.vibrationfree.co.uk/They do all kinds of vibration analysis and in-situ balancing on cars. Not sure how much these services cost, but they're not a million miles from you, might be worth a call? I guess it's getting to the point where i'm going to have to pay someone to do it I've taken the old gearbox apart and that seems ok....not that i'm an expert. I've managed to get hold of a nissan gearbox mount which is considerably softer than to one i'm using,so i'm going to try that first. And Nugget......that's a really kind offer, but i'll have to pass thanks I did mount a solid bar between the engine and inner wing just to see if anything changed.....it made the car vibrate more, but didn't really affect the current problem. So i guess i'll try the mount, then give those guys a call.

i absolutely love this car, you have done pretty much what i would like to do with one. I'm looking into at getting hold of a red st at the moment, not seen it yet as its miles away but the owner might be up for swapping it for my s14a. I'm thinking 1uz for it as i have a w58 from my old ma61 that i could make fit... yum!!!
in the pics whats the deal with the rear quarter glass, do they roll down or have you taken them out?? looks cool either way.

Thanks for the compliment mate. Yeah, the rear quarters roll down for pillarless goodness Is the st you're thinking of a ta23 or 22? I ask because the 22 has a smaller engine bay than the 23 making 1uz swaps pretty difficult, although a swap to rack and pinion steering makes the job a little easier.

ah cool, looks mint. its a ta22, think there is one with a turbo uz in australia somewhere? do you know of any bolt up racks that'll fit these as i noticed the clumsy looking set up, would deffo need some thought building headers round that. I'm not 100% set on the uz yet but its a firm fav. ps was wondering where you got all your adjustable arms and panhard rod etc from? are they 86 items or bought from the states or something?

I guess while i'm here i'll add a little but depressing update.
The vibration hasn't changed after fitting the much softer s14 gearbox mount. So to recap on what i've changed....
Engine mounts engine position gearbox mounts gearbox position prop alignment prop position prop centre bearing diff diff/axle position flywheel clutch gearbox turbo hard pipe moved exhaust added a flexi in exhaust.
Nothing i've done really altered it at all,and it's definitely rev related, happening most on deceleration between 2000 and 3000 revs but can also be felt on very light cruise/acel. In all gears but worst in 2nd. I now only think that both gearboxes that i've tried have the same problem....i'm thinking input side rather than output because of the relationship to the engine revs.Or the crank spigot bearing is fubar'ed. Didn't think to check it at the time because i didn't realise it had one. That or an engine problem?
Then to top it off,i've noticed that the paint has bubbled (tiny little blisters) down the shoulders of the car where it has been sat out in the rain and snow since the lancia has been in the garage. My guess is the lacquer is porous.
BUMHATS!

They are mainly 86 stuff bought from the us. www.technotoytuning.com was my fave, but some just came from ebay. Adjustable top mounts are ma61. Not too sure on the rack,i would think 86 would be a start.... www.toymods.com is the best place to find out for sure because there's nothing they haven't done on there

What you have achieved with the car is Totally Brilliant young man. The rotten vibe needs a good kicking alright. I would stick in my nose and suggest that the vibration is either engine or gearbox actually touching the body of the car somewhere at certain revs.Try hammering a piece of rubber in at one side of the gearbox to ease it over a little, just to see any difference. In case it is something as simple as that. If it doesn't work try driving with the manifold unbolted from the rest of the exhaust for a short drive. Hope this may help. don't despair as you have done so fantastic so far. Currently building two TA22's at the moment. Excuse me as I borrow lots of your ideas..cough cough....Maybe you could build me some AE86 strut disc with coilovers. I'll be in touch. See you later.

Hi....Thanks for your input.
To be honest, the vibration does sound like it's a body touching issue, but i've been over it again and again and just can't find any contact points. Maybe i will disconnect the exhaust, just to see.
Oh,and borrow away....most of my ideas were borrowed! ;D

On the SR20 the downpipe can just touch the bellhousing, giving a vibration as you pull away. Might be worth a check.
BTW, Would you consider selling? This is right up my street.

Hi , This may be no help at all or it just may be the problem, years ago wife had a celica, we bought it cheap as it needed a bit of work, anyway long story short it had a driveline viration that was driving us mad, had a spares car, so i changed the diff, prop, g.box, mountings engine and g.box, everything i could think of over a period of a month or so and still couldnt track it down, only thing was it had a new clutch when we bought it so i had discounted that at first, as it was the only thing original from the time i bought the car i removed box again and had a damned good look at the clutch/flywheel, it was a remanufactured unit, looked absolutely fine!! so i changed the lot anyway for the one off the spares car which was about half worn, and the vibration disappeared!!!! don't know if this could be your problem, but seems to me you have changed everything else?

Actually I noticed you have an XTD clutch which have a bit of bad press. Just google it. So rwdrules could be onto something. I had a ACT clutch in my s14a (sr20) with 350bhp, work a treat and never had any issues.
if you think of selling in the next few months let me know. Seriously. It would save me building an identical car!

RIP Simon...
A massive inspiration to me in my earlier years and the reason I was brave enough to tackle a lot of my projects including my Galant. Sorely missed.
A quick bump as a reminder of his work, probably the best way to remember him.

Mods, could we make this sticky for a month, as a memorial to him. There is so little we can do, but at least we can do something

I got a lump in my throat reading through this and looking through the Flickr pics. What a car. It's so, so sad that he's no longer here to enjoy it.
