bit of a victory on this car last night - I set on tracking down the injection fault. I pulled the ECU and started checking continuity between it and the various sensors. When i got to the MAP sensor I found that the pipe going to it from the manifold, was split and cracked. I replaced it, and bingo! Now the car is running like a swiss watch. What a result. Only took about 20 minutes.
Now the only things between this car and an MOT are a missing drivers door mirror and sticky rear brake calipers.

Well done, I really like this car. I was once given a 306xsi for free because it had failed the MOT on emissions and the guy was quoted £400 to fix. The problem was a split pipe from the MAP sensor, which cost nothing to replace in about 2 minutes. Can't wait to see this thing mopped and shiny.

Good work Mr B! I must admit I thought it looked a bit of a dog in the earlier pic but it all looks much better in the more detailed pics. Glad to hear you got the running/engine faults sorted out. Is that a suede leather interior? P.S I have an 'Osprey Autohistory' book on the Delta I found in a charity shop. Lots of development history, covering the standard car, HF, Integrale etc. You can have it for the cost of postage if you want - send us a PM

Did a bit of work on this car last night, having successfully repaired the kicked-off door mirror at zero expense I decided to have a look at the boot floor. Hmm, well a little worse than I had hoped, but not catastrophic. I guess buying an 18-yr old italian car for £70 and hoping to get away without any welding is a bit optimistic. Anyway I had a new weapon in the fight against rust: (the red one). That oughta help dig it all out. so I set to: The passenger side was worst so i did that first. Had to do it in 3 separate patches: The new wonder-brush turned out to be a right load of old toss, it vibrated so much in the angle grinder it was impossible to hold! Its gonna be getting launched right back at machine mart. Quite pleased with how it turned out though. All seam-sealed up and ready to paint: I started at about 6.30 and worked till 10.30, funny how hours of fannying about can be summarised in 4 photos. I will do the other side tonight. Ta-ra a bit!

Nice repair! it does look in great condition all things considered. Those angle grinder wire wheel things scare the sh!t out of me, must be the most dangerous combination of tools ever put together! Looking forward to the mopping pics, I get an unhealthily large kick out of seeing cars before and after a good polish.

Those wire brushes do vibrate like curse word if you think the red one vibrates badly you should try the gold tipped one. I love em for de-rusting though just gotta hold on for dear life and have a break every 10 minutes to curb the onset of vibration white finger.
Excellent car though will look excellent when its all cleaned up. Cracking engines too.

have a break every 10 minutes to curb the onset of vibration white finger. Ha ha, glad its not just me who's scared of that combo - last time i used it i couldn't hold anything for ages afterwards. I got a REALLY big one too, about 3 times the size of the red one, but it was IMPOSSIBLE to use - i nearly lost a finger, so went back to the red one! I need to practice my welding skillz too...........oh what i wouldn't give for a garage to work in

Did the other side last night. Turned out better than the first one, very pleased with it. I'll paint it all up tonight. Next thing to attack is the brakes, they are a bit crummy having been unused in anger for a couple of years.

It must be the most un-rotten lancia ever if thats the only rust i've never seen one before only deltas.
The worst thing with the big wire brushes is their proficency to shoot hot barbed bristles straight into your skin lol

Done loads of work on this car lately. Got a new headlight off ebay for £8 delivered (old one was holed), replaced fuel pipes, calipers stripped and cleaned, new pads all round and new rear discs, a bit more welding on rear inner wheelarch, repaired a busted door handle, new wipers, various bulbs and other bits + bobs. MOT is booked for tomorrow!

RWD, Subaru? Suppose it could be an old Rex or 360, or a Leone 4WD with the front driveshafts chopped off. Sounds like you've put a lot of love into the Prisma plums, hope the MOT goes well.

This car is now MOT'd and ready to rock and roll. It really is in lovely condition, check it out: I have still got a lot to learn from detailing legend 'coxy' but after a week of evenings manning the polishing mop, this car is looking pretty good. It has new brakes all round, new cambelt, full MOT, 51k, drives a treat and will be up for sale very soon. if youre interested give me a shout.
