It Moves! Rear brakes all came off and where sent away to be rebuilt as no parts where available down here. Looks like who ever did it last was a bit of a cowboy and just boshed it together as best he could (broken seals, drums not machined) but at least it had stainless in the wheel cylinders already. By the time it was all back together the battery was flat so I grabbed the Escort for a jump start. My ever helpful brother didnt know the Zephyr was positive earth and proceeded to fry the battery in the escort. So that left me with two non-operational fords. A new battery and a proper jump and all was back on track. Know that it rolls AND runs I can get it up on the ramps and try to sort the clutch.

Great news. I jump started a bloke once and he didn't know I was positive earth and clamped straight on, blowing his puny jumpleads to bits in the process!

The Pharoh is a Nash Ambassador sedan cut down into a pickup. Looks like a Dodgem car all growed up LOL. That Ute is sweet. As has been said a few got impoted over here recently - usually looking about the same condition as yours. Muchos potential. Cragar S/S are the law on these cars. "Custom" Nash Ambassador Pharaoh.

Progress at last, since buying my BMW I have been ignoring the Zephyr. As suggested by Rob back in July last year it was a blocked clutch pipe that was causing the problems. I got a good secondhand slave from Ebay for $6 and a new flex hose for more than twice that. While changing the flex pipe months ago I twisted and snapped a steel pipe as well and that is where it sat until this week. But its all back together now and moving under its own power (without protest) for the first time since I bought it. Since its been tucked up in the drive all this time I never took any shots from the rear so here they are; I was looking into 'Historic Registration' but its looking like more trouble than its worth so I might just put 3 months on it and see how much unwanted attention it generates. I have also been having thoughts about copper colored 15inch steels and Mexican blankets but they can wait.

The 7 months since my last update started with 4 months of not very much follow by 3 months of 'On Road Evaluation' ie me driving around in what really should be a restoration project. The lack of MOT style inspections down here means that 3 months registration was simply a matter of showing up and paying a raft of fees and charges. Only trouble in 3 months of semi-regular use were the exhaust blowing through my hastily applied Muffler Wrap repair job. Fast forward to today and I decided it was time to start on a few jobs. First up was clearing out the crud that had accumulated in the tray while sitting under the previous owner's tree. Before After These aftermarket drainage holes, this crack in the tray spine and some rotting wood are the only damage in 50 years of service. Next up was the interior. Behind the seats Seat removed A total of 6 floor mats have now been removed from the 2 footwells along with 2 hessian sacks, rubber flooring, carpet squares, dead moths, what may have been part of a rat, scratchy tickets, a jack, mallet and $2.83 in loose change. Leaving me with this Its all surprisingly solid except for these two holes on the passenger side. The bigger one is slightly smaller than my thumb.

I haven't been able to find many pics of that one either, there was a good article on it in either Classic or Retro Ford mag.

It was also featured in Street Machine when it was first built, probably 1997/8 or so. Will try and dig the mag out for you.

Buying a BMW or a Bentley & looking cool is easy, but the credit doesn't go to you.Taking an unloved car that cost £500 & making it good enough to get photos in magazines or stand out alongside cars that cost one hundred times more is a skill reserved for us loonies!

Won some steels on Ebay $85 (£38 to most of you) delivered to my door. 16x4.5 inch ford steels makes them option wheels for 1949-52 big body fords in the US but Ford Australia could have fitted them to just about anything. Came with 3 Light Truck tyres in 16x6.5 (100 profile) aka huge. Plenty of room for them on the car though, as this house brick mock up clearly demonstrates. Sourcing tyres could be a problem (rims are only 4.5 wide) if I can't find anything suitable (or cheap enough) I'll strip them and put them back on Ebay. Tyre suggestions more than welcome. I think I may have photoshopped every possible colour but cannot get away from copper at the moment. Once again open to suggestions

This is going into storage tomorrow so I had to sort the fuel leak today.
Assumed the leak was coming from the perished fuel hose on the filter, so I replaced both lengths of rubber hose and the filter.
Started right up after a couple of months quiet, but was still leaking fuel. Turns out the fuel inlet nipple on the carb was loose, half a turn with a spanner and the leak was gone.
