Quick update. Finally had enough so evicted it from the garage! Why? Headgasket has gone It's more annoying cos it was probably my doing Anyway, it went to my mates garage for an MOT and general checkover and confirmation of the HG situation. It failed the MOT, rear brakes need sorting, headlight adjustment is out and a number plate bulb I'm impressed, but he has confirmed the HG has gone, even though he got it through the emissions before the header tank boiled over. He's going to look at the driveshaft/gearbox oil seal as well as it's still leaking after being changed twice Then with a fresh MOT it'll go back in my garage for a HG change! Man this car does my head in! what side driveshaft is leaking ? i had one in last month that the owner said wouldn't stop leaking, he'd forgot to spin the washer tabs back round that hold the drivers side shaft middle support bearing in place so the drive shaft kept coming out the diff and not sealing ? took me 2 hours to suss it and 5 mins to fix

Yep, they're nice and tight, I have read on the 205 forum that the seal needs to protrude about 1mm, and I may have banged them in a bit hard! I have a new engine coming, and the gearbox will have to come out I guess so I'll have to renew the seals again anyway In other news it has an MOT Yep, it just needed the rear brakes tweaking, headlights adjusted and a number plate light replacing! Back in the garage now waiting for more engine surgery More to follow Pete

Indeed And this one has been broken for quite a while. Still, soon be at home and I won't have any excuses for not getting it sorted out! And then it'll probably be for sale Too many cars (At least that's what I've been told ) It will definitely see a track with me at the wheel before that happens though, it would be a bit pointless other wise! And then it might be around a bit longer..........

So, it obviously saw the light of the day Looks good. The front wheels throw up plenty of crud so won some rally type arches on the bay of E! They'll be getting a tweak and fitted in a few weeks! And of course it came back with a rather important slip of paper I'm very chuffed, but obviously gutted about the HG! I don't know if it was me running the engine without enough coolant, whether the fan isn't working or whether it was knackered when I bought it as a "reconditioned" unit. Hard to know now, but hey ho New, definitely reconditioned engine coming in the next few weeks and we'll be back at the engine out stage again! Oh well. Pete

Well, here we go again. This was Feb 2008 It turned out that either I had blown the head gasket or it was gone when I got the engine so last week I got another rebuilt engine. They're frigging multiplying like rabbits So this was on Saturday and this was a couple of hours later. I have a major lack of mojo going on with this car at the moment, I just want it on the road now, so I'll be getting stuck in properly over the next few weekends to get it sorted. I have some goodies coming and I'll need to transfer stuff from one engine to the other, and get new gaskets etc.

You should try one with 16v's..........;D Think I'll stick to 8 for now. I can see this going on the road for 5 minutes and then going straight to the for sale board Justifying 2 similar cars in the fleet is getting tricky

You wouldn't regret 16v - I've been been a fan for a few years now (203bhp / ton!)

Ha, I'm sure it wouldn't mate, in fact I wish I'd just done that from the beginning now I'm onto my third engine The pots pretty empty now though and the van needs too much work so once this is done that'll be that Well, maybe

Update time again. So moved back home after 3 years of being away most of the time so got properly stuck into getting this sorted. So whipped the old one out, makes it sound so easy, but it being FWD that means driveshafts out, which means hubs off, brake caliper off on the drivers side I shouldn't complain, I have all the tools and a great garage, but mojo is low for this car Anyway, I stripped the old engine. I have to say looking at it that it was definitely my doing cooking it as everything is brand new! Gutted Started building the old one up on the hoist and shoehorned it back in Of course that is a pain in the as well, especially when you're a tard and have the engine hanging off the hoist at an angle. My wife was helping but walked away in disgust when I started swearing at it Ooops. Finally got it in with a healthy dose of BFAI and started building it back up, ordered a new clutch cable so just waiting on that before refitting everything and firing it up. MAKING SURE THIS TIME THAT IT HAS PLENTY OF COOLANT IN IT Thanks for checking in, more time on it tomorrow. Pete

Dude, that's some bad luck right there, but fingers crossed for this time around I'll be sending you some major Mojo via the powers of telepathy tomorrow. Hope they make it alright? Also, don't s'pose you have a starter motor spare anywhere? Need one to borrow to test out on the CTi? Looking forward to seeing this running very soon mate, don't let it get you down

Cheers chaps. Yes Mark, I'm seriously hoping for some kind of luck this time round I've really missed this car. Bruce, keeping an eye out for some telepathic mojo, just being at home every night has raised it loads already no spare starter I'm afraid. Cti? Have I missed something?

Well surprise surfuckingprise it's all connected up and guess what? Yep, it won't run I'm on the verge of giving it away, for a six-pack of beer and some crisps. In fact I can't even bear to look at the POS so I shall be evicting it from the garage, sticking the cover on it and leaving it until I can face looking at it again. French tin can 1 mojo nil Laters, I'm going for a beer. Pete
